Just recieved Wested pants

First I want to say that I can't believe how fast these arrived. Only took about 4-5 days to Chicago! I was completly surprised when they showed up on my doorstep. The pants themselves are awesome! Perfect color and material, look like they are right off Indy's waist from Raiders. I've had a couple close enough pairs in the past but nothing comes close to the Wested's. They are currently at the cleaners being hemmed, so I'll post pics later.

Man, I second that! I LOVE my Wested pants. I first bought some original Navy officer pinks (looking to sell if anyone is interested), and then decided to pick up the Wested's because I wanted SA pockets.

These things are great. Just got them back from the tailor today, and I don't wanna take 'em off!

My Wested shirt and pants arrived this morning. Both items are great - the pants need hemming but, once they're sorted, it's likely they'll see a lot of use.

Sizing's difficult for me as 36" pants are a tad too tight and 38" are a wee bit loose. With a belt, the 38"s I bought bunch up a bit at the top but this can be hidden by the shirt. The quality of the wool is excellent and the pockets look SA.

Overall, I think the Wested pants are excellent value for money.

Sure would be nice if they made 'em for tall people. :?

I'm over 6'2" and there's enough material for a 4" hem.

Hey Zombie Jones, define tall (no I don't need an actual defenition, just wonder what you regard as tall).

Really? Their website says the inseam on their pants is 35" unfinished; I need pants with a 36" inseam.

In fact, I can't use the L.L. Bean microfiber pants that many members recommend either because their longest inseam is 34". I usually wear Levi's 501's, and it's so difficult to find my size in stores that I usually have to order them online.

To be perfectly honest, I was just crackin' wise; I can't justify spending $91 for a pair of pants I'll only wear once or twice a year.

Well, I'm 6'1" in bare feet, and I'm taller than most people I know, so...

I am 6'1" as well, but I'm considered "average" in height by Dutch standards. :?

Good to hear you were joking about the length of your legs though: the last person I met that needed that kind of inseam was 6'9" . That means you would have had very strange proportions...

Although Wested's are nice pants, the right color and the perfect fabric, I have to disagree about the pocket flaps being correct.

yes..

the cut on wested's is tapered.the pocket flap is not that pointy and the seam over the backpocket is 100% vertical..

other then that..they are ok..

Actually, I wasn't joking about the length of my legs or the pants I wear. Depending on the manufacturer the waist can be 34"-36", but the inseam is consistently 36". And no, I've never been told I'm disproportionate.

6'9"??? I would think he/she would need at least a 40" inseam. But then...I once met a guy who was at least six inches taller than I am, but his waist was the same height as mine--the guy was all torso! So I suppose it's possible.

Strange, the pocket-flap on my Wested looks nothing like the one on TheMechanic's Wested Picture.....

wow  we are talking about inside leg seam, right? Thats about 91.5 cm.... half your size... that's about as long as normaly my pants are from waist to hem. and I wear 34w32l pants.
From that I would expext you to be at least 6'5", but as the Dutch are differently proportioned to almost everybody, what do I know about normal proportions anyway

That new Wested pocket flap looks like the Noel Howard pocket flap. They must have changed the design a little. I did hear a rumor that Peter will be using NH's patterns from now on.

Looks like they tweaked the seam, the stitching and belt loop placement too.

That's a big improvement. That looks so much better.

I ordered these on July 22nd, so they must have been using "new" paterns for over a month now. Glad to hear my pants are more SA than I thought :)

I don't know how long Wested has been using the newer pattern as above but I received mine mid-April. There was a delay of about a month with them, perhaps that's when they were changing the pattern over? They shipped well after my Jacket. I'm curious to see how much the pattern will change again.

I ordered one yesterday and can't wait for it to arrive. I knew about how the pocket-flaps were not SA, it's quite a surprise to see that they changed the pattern. it's still not 100 % SA, but it looks much better now.

@Falco09: 4-5 days from London to Chicago? That's fast.
I thought mine wouldn't be here within a week, but maybe I was wrong.

gwyddion - those Westeds look great, what is the measurement of the leg opening at the cuff (lay 'em flat and measure across)? Also, if those are Westeds they not only have a better pocket but they are using more accurate buttons too, by the look of it...not to mention that the verticle seem is not so verticle either, though it still could be more diagonal.

BTW, I don't think Noel's pants had SA pocket flaps either, they didn't have the top stitch around the outside of the flap and were not as pointy of course.

westeds are awesome and i think are the best option for CS pants. as for raiders, they are too tapered at the bottom and yes the pocket flaps don't have the magic point.

no one has the correct pockets.......platon may have the correct pocket flaps on his previous offering but the pockets are spaced way too far apart and the pleats aren't deep enough IMO. i believe the pockets are bang on if you are a 30 or 32 inch waist. what we need is a hybrid of:

1. platon's pocket flaps
2. NH raider pant pattern
3. at wested's pricing

Magnoli has the correct pocket flaps.

Amen on that list above. I totally agree.

No problem :D

I have a pair of his 100% English Wool Indy pants on the way. Can't wait.

What would be really great (Peter I hope you're reading this) is if Wested would use NH pattern to perfect his Raiders pants... Then source a lighter tanner shade of wool cavalry twill to offer LC/CS pants using his current pattern.

Yep, that's the inseam measurement; my outseam (waist to hem, as you put it) is 43". Truthfully, I could probably get away with a 34" inseam, but I feel that looks too short on me.

Just had a chat with my ex-girlfriend. She is just as tall as I am but apears to have slightly longer legs. I asked her what her inseam was (looked at me as if the thought I had finaly lost it completely) and she said her inseam was 34". This means that those measurements only seemed strange in my head, but in real-life I wouldn't even notice. So just totaly forget my surprise at those mesurements: it was all a trick of a mind that saw differences as bigger than they realy are.

Not a problem Geert. You were simply sharing your experience and opinions, and I appreciate that!

The new Wested pocket (just got a new pair) has indeed improved to more of a point, but it still not as long a center point as the SA pocket.

Still, I'm absolutely thrilled with them.

Zombie, as to your comments about only wearing them once or twice a year....I love wearing them to work, and as long as I don't come in with the bag strapped over my shoulder, nobody even looks twice at them.

My work history consists of a long line of "blue collar" jobs where a) I was required to wear a uniform, or b) my own pants were stained or damaged in the performance of my duties, neither of which circumstances are conducive to wearing a pair of $100 pants.

Additionally, I've been out of work for almost three years because of complications after back surgery (with no income whatsoever for nearly two years now--long story), and I have absolutely no idea what my next job opportunity will be. So, again, I'm hesitant to spend that much for a single pair of pants. That said, I appreciate you sharing your opinion and experience!

 That sounds serious! I hope your back will be fine realy soon and also that you can find something to generate some income in the very near future (preferably a nice job you will like).

My dad has been in the exact same situation with his back for quite some time now, appart from him owning his own company and still working there, so I know a little about what kind of impact back-injuries can have on a man's life.

Sorry everyone, but I sent these back to the tailor after having the legs hemmed to have a little of the waist taken in. Pics will be coming.
