Need Help w/Wested Problem!

So, I just received a beautiful Raiders Lambskin from Wested, custom. I am going to need to ask for an alteration and I'm wondering if anyone knows if they'll do it for me. Is Wested typically good about this stuff?

I didn't place a super complicated order-I asked for the 80s cut with slightly longer sleeves, as I've got long arms. I actually emailed Gemma 2 days after placing the order with the request for 80s cut (I forgot to include this initially) and he told me they had already cut it but would re-cut it from standard to 80s for me. I didn't think to mention narrower action pleats, I assumed it came along with the 80s cut. Well I got the jacket and while it is the 80s cut and I love it the action pleats are HUGE. They flare out terribly. I've put an email in to Gemma requesting that they alter the pleats to the 1.25" depth that they should have been.

Does anyone know if this will require a major re-working of the cut and if Wested will even do it for me? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Well, they don't flare THAT badly......

I'm wondering if a phone call over to the UK would be more effective than an email? Are they good on the phone? I'm assuming I would speak to Gemma.....?

If you call now, you'll probably catch Peter in.

send an email.

tell them they have to alter the pleats down to 1.25'' on both sides.

that should do it.

ohh one more very important thing.

when you send back your wested add this on the parcel: RETURNED GOODS FOR REPLACEMENT/REPAIR

that will speed up the customs process and wested will not be billed when the parcel arrives.if they get billed then they wont accept the parcel.

Holt and Kt-

Thanks for the input! I'll wait to hear back as I only sent the email last night. And great tip for the shipping I would not have thought of it!

Is 1.25 their usual pleat size for the 80s cut?

great to hear that everything worked out for you.and while they are at it make them change the sliders to rectangulars..if you dont allready have that on your jakcet...just something that popped in my head..cause wested tends to use their D-rings alot..

I actually enjoy the D-ring look! Is there an advantage to the rectangular ones or is that simply the more SA? I must admit these details don't concern me as much as the fit does. And those huge action pleats just look silly.

yes the rectangulars holds the straps tight.and is SA.

the straps when broken in will slip out of the D-rings all the time..you'll see..

Ok Holt I give in!

I plan on wearing this jacket in as much as possible and I don't want the straps sliding out so I made that request as well. I will post pics when I get the finished product!
