These things are all over our favorite auction site. It would seem that these whips have become quite popular, and the maker swears by them.
To my eyes, they look less than spectacular.
I'm sure someone has tried one out?

I think the general consensus is that they are low quality, but can be used as a cheap introductory level whip. Do a search on the forums here, and you will find numerous threads discussing those whips.

To disagree with minstrel, the consensus is that they are NOT even to be used as an introductory whip, and that you should look elsewhere. They are low quality(have no real core), hard to crack, and will break.

I was able to fix it, however, and actually swing from it into a river twice and its still all there. I would classify it as a costume prop at best.

Regarding my initial reply: I thought I had read someone say that, and others chiming in, in a thread about those whips, but now that I did a search and looked for that thread I can't find it. So I have to take back what I said.
The general consensus is that those whips are worthless POS.
Personally, I don't think they look good, and the über hype of the seller is tacky and makes my spider sense tingle, so I wouldn't buy one, personally. Especially not since I believe I can make a much better whip myself...

When I read the part where he says that you and a friend can swing on the whip, I had a feeling that this guy was off his rocker...
Tacky uber hype was a perfect way of putting it.

It was one of his whips that inspired me to start making my own since I was sure that I could do better.

I bought one. Makes a good dog leash or cat toy. I now have a Winrich whip.

Luke, was that the "whip" with the fall that was wider than a Winnebago? After cutting it down substantially and working at it, it did manage to crack a little, but it took an incredible amount of work to do so. I would agree that there's no core to the whip.

I have one and it works well for me. I have a Caicedo on the way right now and can't wait to do a side by side comparison.

yeah, that's the one.
No comparison with the Winrich. Like comparing a Dorfman to a Fed.
techrtr, you must have lucked out. Mine was craptacular.

Well, like I said, I have a Caceido in the mail, and a Winrich on order. Maybe all of the shortcomings of the RJoe will become glaringly obvious when I start using the new ones.

Might work as a costume piece only, but for the price? I'd spend my money on a Todd's.
I agree that it sure looks like there isn't much of a core in that thing. The thong bends
substantially past the second knot in one of the photos - not a good sign. :junior:
