what a 10 ft bullwhip can do
Here's a quick video in response to a question previously posted in the forum asking what a 10 ft bullwhip could do:

This video just goes to show you that if you ever encounter Adam Winrich in a dark alley, and you see he's got some kind of whip.... RUN. FAST.
Adam, fantastic work, as usual! May I be so humble as to ask that you create some sort of tutorial on how to "Continue the Line" ? I can do it... but I'm not consistent. Any tips or visuals would be very much appreciated.

I threw in the 'continuing the line' move because I thought it was once of the cooler moves that can be done with an Indy-style bullwhip. However, since it is Anthony DeLongis's move, and he makes part of his living teaching his style of whip cracking, I don't want to give away instructions on any of his moves.
I think Anthony might explain that move in one of his videos/DVDs that he sells.

That's really awesome, Adam! Your videos have been some of of my favorites for their simple yet excellent explanations and outright dynamite execution of technique. Every time I see another one of our videos it seems to take me a little closer to the next level! I second some of the others when they say "I got a long way to go"!

That's definitely reasonable. Thank you anyway!winrichwhips wrote:I threw in the 'continuing the line' move because I thought it was once of the cooler moves that can be done with an Indy-style bullwhip. Adam! Great video! Thanks for taking the time to put it together for all of us. It's neat to see what all really is possible with a 10ft whip. But it looks like doing all that with such a huge whip is extra tough - you looked worn out by the end of the video! )

Hey Lauren,
The only reason I was tired was because that was the 20th take of that video. I could do the basic cracks with no problem, but when I'd get to the harder cracks I always seemed to miss a crack, so I'd start over. I scratched another take when two guys on motorcycles were racing past my house making a lot of racket.
The 'continuing the line' move was tough because the cracker always wanted to snag on the fall hitches until I slightly adjusted the angle of the throw. The arrowhead was also tough, and you'll notice I'm missing a few cracks at the end of it.
It was fun to do, and I'd be out there for an hour today working on those moves, but I'm performing every weekend and I promised myself to take it easy this week so that my shoulders last the summer

I laughed out loud when i read that because i completely know what you mean.
when i was trying to film my "whip fooey" videos i went thru MANY MANY takes.
you are FAR more patient than i am, because the ones i messed up on would have to be highly censored to edit the cursing and other foul words that where being yelled..... hahahaha
well at least it worked out in the end!

Bah! I am totally bummed. I honestly believed you just whipped that video out with no effort. If nothing else let it be known that you have people viewing your performances with significant levels of awe.
However, bummed as I am that you claim it took 20 takes. I am still overwhelmingly impressed that it can be done with a 10ft whip.
You are true maker of inspiration. Thank you.

I'm actually impressed that it only took 20 takes - definitely a testament to your skill with whips Adam! There were a few neat looking moves in there, a few I don't think I've seen before, and (besides your looking a little winded when you were talking to the camera) you made it all look a lot easier than that stuff really is IMO. Rock on Adam, thanks again for taking the time.

Amazing video Adam!! Man, do I need to work on my arm strength! I was wondering why you were out of breath but after 20 takes I can see why. Thanks so much for showing us what a 10'er is capable of. Gives us all some great references and some goals to attain. I have a 10' Strain and DelCarpio that are still stiff from being brand new so at least now I know what is possible with a 10' whip. Thanks again.

Shane, the "continuing the line" crack is really cool, but it's tough until you find the right timing. At least it was for me. We really need to get you back out to see Anthony again. I'm going to try and go sometime in the next few months. Hopefully I'll make it there.
Adam, sorry about the distraction, I just want to harass Shane. Once again, that was great. I need to start practicing again... I was doing so well this past spring (almost daily), and then this move killed me. I think I've cracked twice in the last two months.

hmmm..
I can do something like the arrowhead with a 22 ft whip, but I don't keep the whole whip up in the air.
I tried the 4-corners with a 10 ft bullwhip and it wasn't really working, and I don't think a 12 ft whip would make it any easier.
No time for videos this week as I'll be in Boston tomorrow, but maybe I can post something next week.
