Todd's standard XL Measurements

Hello everyone.

I measured my Todd's standard XL today, and I'll probably forget where I wrote it down in a week or so, so I thought it might be a good idea to post it for that reason, and also that it may help out someone else trying to determine if this will fit them or not.

So, here you go:

general size: 44 regular in the body, 44 long in the sleeve. This means it fits me (I am a 43.5 long) PROPERLY in the sleeve, if it was a shirt, NOT a screen-accurate Indy jacket. So, about 35-35.5 shirt sleeve size. The sleeve needs to be about another inch to be a true long size indy-screen-fit-jacket thingy stuff... Or something.

Now, here are the measurements I took from my jacket, and how I measured them: (More or less, but better than many I have seen)

BACK: Measured from the base of the colar stand to the bottom of the back- 25"

Back shoulder seams: Where the shoulder seam meets the sleeve, across the back- 20"

Sleeve: Measured from the shoulder seam of the jacket, to the end of the sleeve (what you typically see as a "sleeve measurement", although this is a useless measurement in my opinion, as it depends on how wide the shoulders are cut)- 25"

Storm Flap: Measured from the base of the colar stand to the botom of the storm flap- 22"

Collar width (at tip): Measuring from the tip to the colar stand (I think that's how I did it)- 3"

Storm Flap Width: Edge to stitching on jacket- 1.5"

Width at bottom (Front): Measured across the bottom front, zipped, from front panel seam to front panel seam- 22"

Seam to seam, under arms, across chest: Where the sleeve meets the side panel at it's lowest point, across the zipped front of the jacket-24.5"

Sleeve exit: (opening- where your hand comes out) laid flat, outside measurement- 5.75"

Neck: I did my best to run the tape around the collar ID and got- 18.5"

Pocket Dimensions: This seems to be a popular discussion... 6 5/8 wide X 7 1/2 high

Enjoy!

Delfloria, everyone says how thin Todd's leather is but yours looks like a heavier leather.

That's the 'drape' everyone raves about.

It is soft and 'flowy' but looks like heavier leather.

it is very thin, like a heavy shirt (those denim shirts some people wear as jackets?) like that.

THIN. No question. I do not know how their cow hide is... I will have one soon and report on how that feels compared to their lamb. That jacket is a custom, so I will not post measurements, as they won't mean much to anyone considering a standard...

Wow, looks great nonetheless...

Oh, I agree! That 'level' of distressing is just about perfect...

Believable, not over the top at all.

Too bad they don't also offer a standard in cowhide.

Yes, it's VERY thin and super light. But looks great.

Hey delfloria, that's a great jacket! Any shots of the back?

VERY nice looking jacket. :notworthy:

And J!m, after comparing your measurements to another jacket that I have right next to me, except the overly long sleeves, Todd's XL should be an excellent OTR fit for me. I can always have the sleeves shortened.

Todd's jacket is looking better all the time.

The only measurement missing is the shoulder seam length from collar to sleeve. Would someone with an XL mind posting? Cheers.

Wouldn't that be half of the back shoulder seam that J!m posted? In essence, half of 20" is 10".

Not really - I took that measurement to be straight across the back. I was after the length of the shoulder seam itself to the side of the neck, not to the spine if that makes sense. Thus I need the shoulder seam measurement that should be about 7" or so...???

(Just trying to measure it up on my Wested 44" HH as an option for a snugger fitting warm weather jacket - I've got broad shoulders so don't want to take any chances with either where the shoulder seam hits at the apex or how that affects the ultimate sleeve length.)

All I can say now is that the XXL is 8 inches from the colar to the sleeve (Shoulder measurement as stated above).

I would presume the XL to be slightly less than that...

What about someone who is, say, 6'1" tall and 200 pounds, and wears a size 42 jacket?
