queensland flash..... WHUT?!

Ok, Ive been watching alot of videos lately.....
Mike Murphy's Fundementals/no bull tapes
and
Alex Greens Whipcracking made easy....
Both whipartists have very different approaches and also what they consider to be the "basics" differ slightly....
but the biggest difference that i have seen is what each call the "queensland flash"
Both artists perform the "QF" with the last two cracks being the back half of a fast figure 8 followed by a cattleman's/Circus crack BUT both artists start the crack with a totally different crack...
this is what they do
Mike Murphy: swing whip up on front, quick wristy flick to the front, back half of fast figure 8, followthru, cattlemans
Alex green: swing whip over head several times into a overhead crack, back half of fast figure 8, followthru, cattlemans.. or as Alex calls it "circus crack"
so my question is...... which one is "right" or like so many things is there NO ONE right way?
if i had any video editing skill id post clips from each persons videos but that might be copyright infringement.... maybe ill make a video myself and post it...

I believe the Queensland Flash is a circus crack, reverse volley crack (or the back half of a fast figure
, and then another circus crack. There's also the Sydney Flash, which is the same thing, but instead of starting with a circus crack, you start with a forward flick. Maybe there ARE interchangeable names though for 2 different routines that you're seeing.
I always thought it was a Circus - Reverse Volley - Circus.

I'm confused. Is the QF the same thing or even a variation of the IJ "Cairo Flash?"

heres a quick video i made to demonstrate my question..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HT6ZlqxcypQ
HOWEVER, it was mentioned that the murphy crack im doing may be the SYDNEY FLASH!?!?!
MAybe i wasnt paying close enough attention in the murphy tapes, BUT what Green was doing and calling the queensland flash seemed foreign to me still
Also, i was playing around with timing variations:

Ok Paul just called me..
They are BOTH queensland flashes, but Alex Green uses a change in plains variation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Im still too much of a newb to recognize that i guess.
Murphy and Green each to things ALOT differently in their videos, so guess I had a hard time keeping up.........
NOW I KNOW!
Thanks Paul!
(Love the whips btw)

This has come up before, Mike and Alex do their respected Queensland flashes a bit differently, but they are both accepted as a Queensland flash.
I don’t know if I agree that they are the same but done with a change in plains variation though. Mike’s Queensland flash is done starting with a fast figure 8 and goes into a cattlemen’s crack to end it. Alex Green starts out with an overhead horizontal crack, then from that immediately follows into to a reverse cattlemen’s crack, then launches into into the forwards cattlemen’s crack. So in that sense Alex is doing more of a reverse standard figure 8 done on the side of the body after the over head crack. It might be splitting hairs but the reverse cattlemen’s crack is a bit of a different technique then the reverse throw of a fast figure 8.

Hi Dan,
I think you may be right. I haven't watched the Alex green video in a few years. After reading your post, I went and looked for the video and I can't seem to find it. So, until I do, I'll take your word for it.
But I will say that the way Shagbad demonstrates the Alex Green way, Shagbad is definitely doing a changing planes Queensland flash - the same thing as Mike Murphy's but with the planes changing between the first and second crack.

PS - Thanks for the plug in the video Shagbad,
