Also before anybody asks these are not the pair that Alden is producing to sell like the current 405's...You can only purchase these through Leathersoul Hawaii...

I would prefer "brownish" as opposed to "reddish".

Actual 405 are brownish!

alden of carmel has an offering....their AF76 which is in black shell cordovan leather.

In my opinion, the Aldens don't look good in black.....it makes it look like any other ordinary black leather chukka.

I like them a lot. And you get the Alden quality in the color I prefer. I'd say OTHER boots look like this, not that the 405 looks at all "ordinary".

They look nice, but I would be interested to see them in other light conditions.
