Hey guys I want to send some references to Wested of how i want my Jacket to look so I need good reference pics on what Indy's Jacket looks like closed and how tight it would be - anyone got pics?

The only time I can think of was in Raven's bar. Might be a bit off in the scenes with Marion, as he had a pair of gloves stuff in the right pocket

Oh yeah, the jacket looks great. I always saw the Radiers jacket as being a little on the snug side.

That tends to happen when you close the jacket, I've noticed.

AJ, pop in the Raiders DVD and go to the Raven bar scene, when Indy and Marrion are standing at the bar. As she walkes over to the table, Indy turns and you get a great front view of the jacket.

Chewie Louie- I think that passing up Indy to hug the kid Indy was with was a punch in the jaw enough for him.

Well, it keeps the jacket-makers in business.... Unlike, say, the A-2, which was designed for airmen in general -- and also isn't the best choice for those over certain dimensions -- the Indy jacket was tweaked to be the most flattering garment for one particular, nicely-built but not over-muscled actor. It's more than made-to-measure; it's a true "custom" piece.

Moonite, is what you're mainly looking for a good fit around the torso? If so, I'd imagine you best bet is to supply Peter with very accurate chest and shoulder measurements, and maybe tell Peter that you want it to fit snug when zipped up. That might be your best avenue short of having Peter actually measure you himself.

Shoulder, chest and waist. In addition to the usual back length and sleeve length.

Height, and weight too.

I'd amend Waist to "gut" if you have one- important point being, chest, measured normally, and the widest part of your midsection for the lower portion of the jacket.

If you measure above or below your widest point, you will only be kidding yourself, and the fit will not be right. the jacket will end up looking too small for you.

if you guys watch (and I know you all do) "What not to wear" the people on there always look worse wearing what size they think they are, versus what size they actually are. And size varies with maker, so measurements (or trying on) is always the way to go, if you can.

Not aimed at anyone in particular, just saying this should be kept in mind.

but I have a friend who fits the "stuffed sausage" description fairly well when he zips his moto jacket up...

For many, the Bottom Sweep measurement may be most important. If you have a Beer Belly, better measure around that. And might as well measure around the rump.

No beer belly - I'm really skinny - (think gymnast)

Gymnasts are anything but skinny! Maybe watch the Olympics in August!
They tend to have very broad shoulders. Unless you meant the women gymnasts? Although, even some of those...

Those are good pics. When I ordered my first Wested from Peter 10 years ago I expressed some concern about getting just the right fit and he told me that his Raider's jacket was a very forgiving jacket so there should be not problem. In my case he was right, and now after having a couple of his jackets as well as other vendors, and watching the movies with a less obsessive eye, I believe the Raider's jacket isn't as slim fitting as alot of people think. Now when I watch it, I see a much more relaxed fitting jacket. Notice that pic of Indy leveling his gun at Toht, jacket zipped up nearly to the collar. It looks like there is some play in that jacket, not straining from the shoulders to the zipper.

If you're going to be punching Nazis, you don't want your jacket slowing down your swing!

Key lesson from these photos. The jacket is roomy. It is not tight. It is not slim. It is not "fitted close". It is a medium size jacket, sitting on a medium sized torso. The leather is obviously thin and very malliable, so it drapes in that special ROTLA way here, where on the stiffer LC jacket it does not drape all that much at all.

That guy is huge!

The real measurement to get would be Harrison chest size vs. the actual jacket measurement. Then you would know just how tight/loose the fit was meant to be.

When he's in NY he and I always get together for a coffee.

I'll ask him what his size was back in '81 and see what he says.
