Unrequested Todds Costumes Order

I have just received an email from Todds costumes saying they have sent me a package. However I have not ordered anything from them lately. I bought a jacket from them months ago but that was it. I have sent an email to him asking why he has sent me something and how was he able to charge me for it.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Perhaps Todd is sending you a Temple of Doom prototype for field testing.

No, I just said that. I'm open to the idea, though.

Well I have got a reply from Todd claiming that I ordered an Indy bag, gloves and shirt in May! He says it must have slipped my mind! He included a copy of the sales receipt which indeed has my name and address on it so it must be a fault with his record.

My Paypal account doesn't seem to have been charged for this. I certainly wont be paying to send it back from the UK.

That’s why you should always use PayPal for those kinds of transactions!

I forgot I had used Paypal for my jacket order. Only realised when I saw my apparent sales receipt.

So I guess it shouldn’t be a problem, no one can simply transfer money with out your authorization with only your PayPal public details. Worst that can happen is that you deny receiving the items so they will be sent back to the origin if Todd fails to stop them on time. What still bugs me is why he sent anything before being completely sure he got the payment first?

Still I guess this was an honest mistake and not an attempt to forcing you too buy anything since I don’t think he was able to charge you anything, right?

Yeah. I've been wondering why he insists I ordered these items when my Paypal account hasn't been charged for them. If I'm in when the package arrives I will just refuse it, but if I'm out and it's left at my door it won't be sent back.

He doesn't seem to be trying to force me to buy them. The receipt shows a payment of 126 dollars so he seems satisfied he has been paid. It is obviously someone elses order which has somehow managed to have my details put on it.

I think they can't left the parcel at your door because you have to pay custom fees. This is what happen here in Italy when I receive a package from US.

The last two Todds jackets I ordered didn't get charged customs fees. The postman brought them to my house. I think Todd marked them as gifts which don't get charged.

You're lucky: I paid a lot of money for my Todd parcels...

It's probably just a glitch. I received a duplicate package today. I'm going to send it back and they said they would refund postage. Just call them and they'll take care of it.

Maybe there's a problem with his ordering system if other people have been sent packages they didn't order?

I'm afraid that's a common misconception. If customs suspect it's not really a gifrt they'll charge you what THEY think it's worth, not what's declared on the package. At the very least they could ask for proof it's a gift. They have worryingly wide ranging powers and I've had several run ins with them on this topic. However I've always had to end up paying what were unreasonable charges because they said so, and it wasn't worth the hassle and expense of challenging them.
