Back length: Include thin strip under collar in measurement?

I can't seem to find a definitive answer by searching the forums.

When measurering the back length of a jacket, do you measure from the seam where the collar meets the thin strip of leather, or do you measure from the seam where the thin strip meets the upper back/shoulder piece (in both cases, down to the bottom of the back, of course)?

Ie., is the thin strip of leather included in the measurement or not?

Thanks. ;)

AFAIK you're supposed to measure from the base of the strip (the collar stand).

But it would only mean the difference of 0.5 to about 0.75 of an inch anyway.

Thanks. :)

And you're right, it isn't much of a difference (though I'd estimate 0.75 - 1" or so), but still...

I usually ask the manufacturer I'm ordering from how they measure it, in case they do it differently. Ask about sleeve measuring, too. Some start at the sleeve seam, others start at the base of the neck!!!!
