My Wested WASHED GOAT w/Pics

Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful.
The washed goat from Wested is stellar. I was a little reluctant ordering at first, but I'm glad I took the leap from the lions head. The leather is fantastic. It already comes broken in, so it's not stiff at all. The color and feel of the leather is outstanding. It already has a distressed look to it straight out of the bag. It is a very beautiful Last Crusade jacket.
The weight of the jacket is normal for heavy leather such as goat.
I'll tell you that this jacket, is nothing less than Wested excellence !!! It is every bit what I was anticipating for. The jacket is solid and will definitely be a great addition to your collection and adventures for a very looooong time. That is of course if you don't get abruptly overtaken by a nazi submarine while on the Bantu Wind. Then.... maybe I'd understand. But you better have been dragged by a truck before you loose it !!!!
This is a 44 regular "offtherack" Washed Goat
Outdoor Picture. Though it darkens up outside by the light, you can still see all the characteristics given to the jacket by the "Wash".
Here are ALOT of HD shots of the jacket just incase you want to examine it.

Nice jacket!.....I have the same size--44. Mine looks a little darker than yours in the photo (most likely because I put a coat of Pecards on it right after getting it). It's a very light jacket....almost as light as lambskin. A great fall jacket I must say!

PSBIndy,
The pics of your jacket actually motivated a part of me to get it.
If you hadn't posted those pics... a whole different story.
It's a great jacket.

That's a terrific looking jacket. I've been eyeing that leather for a while and it looks fantastic.
A question if I may: would the washed goat look good for a Raiders jacket? I was kicking around the idea of (and this is eventually) having a novapelle jacket and a washed goat jacket. To my eyes, the novapelle would serve better as an LC jacket.

Yup....what intrigues me, though, is why it seems that there isn't a whole of guys buying this jacket....I mean, just before this jacket came out, there was a whole lot of hoopla about the imminent release of the washed goat......and once it came out, for some reason, it seems quite a few people changed their minds. It's too bad.....the washed goat is definately one of the better Westeds out there and the price is right!

Right now, Wested only makes the washed goat in LC/CS style, not Raiders. I have the Novapelle jacket also (LC style) and it's my Best Wested jacket by far!

I spoke to Peter a few weeks ago, and he can do a custom jacket in the washed goat if you want.
At that time, I wasn't sure what leather to go with (I wanted Lamb, but feared the durability would be an issue, I like and have owned Goat, but know it takes Decades to weather naturally) and this 'washed goat' looks like a great option for those like me.
If you want this leather, in a custom jacket (I have to go that route anyway) Peter CAN do it. Wheather his schedule would allow it or not, is another story...
Even at the 'custom' price, the Wested is a stellar bargain! Worst case it needs repair in five years. Wested WILL reapir it, but even if you went to someone local and had it repaired for a fee, you'd still be ahead of the curve I think...
I am hoping I can be measuerd this weekend some time, so I can call Peter and get this thing going...
Now, to make a new post to determine the screen accurate details of the Raider's jacket (all in one place)...

PBSIndy, I'd imagine that there hasn't been a big rush to get the wash goat because most folks see this as being a good leather for a Raiders jacket and it's not even offered yet. They are offering it in a CS jacket but most folks associate the Nova with that movie, so that's what they're buying. I personally have my fingers crossed that Wested will atleast be offering this washed goat in a RotLA Special !!

To reiterate what J!m said, Gemma told me that they are ready to do customs in the washed goat (or very close at any rate), so I was thinking of going that route for a Raiders and the Novapelle for a LC.

Yep. That's what I was told (but by Peter, via phone).
Before I get flammed for creating yet another post on the Raider's jacket details, is there one, difinitive thread (with pictures) so I could insert every detail and known photograph into a single e-mail to send to Peter?
Otherwise, I have to search, and cut and paste into a word document and then send it off... If there is not a thrad like this already, I'll put my finished document somewhere as a post. Maybe it could then be made a sticky to limit the traffic on this subject...
Thanks in advance!

I know nova gets alot of talk but the goat is a very good option too. The washed goat is specatular! I don't believe that my pictures do the jacket 100% justice. Inperson it's definitely a sight to see.
PBSindy,I too am surprised that not more people have jumped on board with leather.

Both NP and the washed goat are fantastic new additions.
The NP is getting a bit of star billing recently as it's such a good option for a CS jacket, but I'm sure the washed goat will come into its own before too long.
What's not to love about it! It is lightweight so great for when the NP gets too warm, it's goat so has that inherent toughness AND it's got that broken in look and it drapes like lamb
.
I'm sure there's an army of fans in the queue for a Raiders in the washed goat, I know I am.
Customs are coming soon, plus I get the feeling that otr Raiders in WG are not too far away.

Sorry for being a off topic , but, as Peter is offering Raiders jackets in washed goat, I was going over your pics again. Who made the bullwhip that's in the picture stream with your washed goat? I really like the color. Did it come in that color or did you dye it?

Does anyone know if 'washed' means 'pre-shrunk' as well?
Is the leather washed prior to jacket construction or is the jacket washed after it is made?

I was wondering the same thing. It would have to be washed before the leather is cut, right? Makes sense.

Yes, The leather is washed first. Then made into a jacket.
