Wested LC vs. CS

I ordred a custom LC jacket from Wested about 3 weeks ago.

Wested states on its website that the CS jacket is a "modified" LC jacket, though Wested's site does not offer a CS jacket as an available option. I'm aware, of course, that Wested did not produce the jackets for the latest film.

I've also read a posting on one of the threads here at COW that implied that the LC jacket currently produced by Wested today is actually more like a CS jacket than an original LC jacket produced several years ago.

Can anyone tell me whether Wested's LC jacket today is more like a CS jacket? Aside from cost and leather, what is the difference between a I emailed Wested last week, and again today, to inquire as to the possible differences, stating that I may want to revise my order, but I have not received any response. I would call Wested, but for me, that's a trans-Atlantic conversation, and I have to figure the change in time zones.

I'm sure someone more in tune with these two jackets will chime in soon, but until then I can say that from what I've seen Wested has completely given up on making a LC jacket, well they might still call it a LC but to my eye's it's actually a CS jacket. Recent pictures posted here of (Wested) LC jackets show the double stitched sleeve seams and a much pointier collar than ever before. Those are two characteristics of a CS.

I have those two in my hands and the big differences I saw were the pockets and the collar which were bigger for the LC.

In this thread you can see photos of me wearing an LC too big for me and my CS jacket.

Personnally I prefer the CS style.

I agree totally. Mind you the Wested LC jacket never looked right to me. I have one and the pockets are terrible - as are all those others I have seen. Wested's CS is their best jacket - from the photos. I wish they would try and get the LC accurate. Those Smithsonian photos are all they need to base it on.

OK, so it sounds as if Wested still makes separate LC and CS jackets. Is this correct?

They call it an LC, but it's more like a CS, get it? Actually the CS pattern is much closer to what the real LC pattern was than what Wested used to sell as "LC" anyway. The collar might be more pointy now, but at least they got the collar configuration correct. Cheers

Ah ha! Thank you all for your replies. :notworthy:

I now feel much better about my order.

Just as a follow up:

I received an email from Peter this morning. He said that the only differences are the lining and the hide, though he didn't get specific about the differences in these two items.
