Indy's Suitcase

Hi all,
I know it has probably been asked here before but I can't find the thread. What kind of suitcase is Indy using in KOTCS? I'm not talking about the green army backpack. I'm talking about the leather suitcase from the house/train scenes?
Also, does anyone know of any good "close enoughs"?
Thanks
IR

Try an ebay search for a leather valise or gladstone. My dad had one years ago just like the one Indy uses. He called it a "grip".

There's another thread about this -- and recent, too since my ever-shrinking brain still remembers it. I made mention of J. Peterman's Gladstone -- one sold just yesterday or today on Ebay, so you could see a photograph instead of just the illustration at Peterman's website or in Owner's Manual.

This looks pretty close to the Gladstone used in Crystal Skull.
What do you think?

That's a nice one!
As I recall, Hemingway Jones posted about one he found at Marshall's several years ago, so there's that trail too.

I found the bag in an antique store in a small town in Missouri wine country (Yes, Missouri does have vineyards).
It is made of VERY HEAVY cowhide, has all brass hardware and is leather lined. It even came with the key to the lock.
The best I can tell is it was made in either the 40’s or 50’s. There are no manufacturer stamps or marks.
After two applications of Pecards, the leather softened up nicely.
I use it constantly, and have been approached in more than one airport about where a similar bag could be purchased. I have seen new ones for $600.00 to $1200.00. The price I paid at the antique store was Twenty bucks.

Forrestal

I've been looking for this suitcase/bag as well. I'm rather surprised that -- relatively speaking -- it's been one of the least-talked-about prop pieces from KotCS.
I scratched my immediate "itch" for this bag by purchasing a smaller "doctor bag" to use as a carry-on on airline trips.
You can see the exact item here on Amazon where I bought it:
Click here for the Amazon page
But I'd still love to have the full-size bag. It's a great looking piece of luggage.
