LC Tie color anecdote

I was teaching my first-year French class today and we were going over colour...
"De quelle couleur est la cravate?" I asked referring to my black LC tie. And the student replied "C'est une cravate noire."
But then most of the class erupted in an argument, "No, it's dark blue!... No, it's black! Isn't it grey?!" I laughed out loud thinking about all of us arguing about colour (although I don't think they was ever disagreement on the LC tie).
It just goes to show you that even face-to-face you can't be too sure about the colour of gear!
