Did Indy's gun belt change significantly in the first three movies, or was it just his gun type and holster?

well in Raiders it seemed like it was the darkest of them all. in LC it looked like a brown color. as well in TOD about the same. As far as the guns here is a link to everything you can know about what guns were used. The holster
is Raiders looked like this here. TOD and LC were the same.

Whip Artistry Studios will make an accurate LC gun belt for you. I e-mailed them to ask about an accurate LC belt and I got the following response...

"Yes we can make a customized version of the Indy belt for you. Riveting the buckle and using brass hardware shouldn’t be a problem. As for sizing, we work from the traditional gun belt sizing method. That takes the customers normal waist belt size and adds 4 inches to it. So if you’re a 32 inch waist, your belt would be a 36 inch measurement from the edge of the buckle fold to the center of 5 holes.

We charge an additional $25 for custom alterations so the total price would be $84.99 plus $10 shipping and it takes about 10-business days before shipping. We ship everything USPS Priority Mail. Let me know what you’d like to do.

If you’re interested in ordering, just send a PayPal payment for $94.99 to our processing address: gdeer@deercomputerconsulting.com and include your specs in the notes section of the payment page.

Thanks!

Sincerely,

Gery L. Deer

As you can see, it isn't cheap. The standard Crystal Skull gun belt (which is really close to the LC gun belt) costs $59.99
You add $25.00, a customization fee, for the brass buckle and the two brass rivets (to make the gun belt LC screen accurate) and you've got your LC gun belt.

So far this is the only screen accurate LC gun belt that I have found and it looks like I'll be purchasing this belt myself. I'm not thrilled with the cost but I'd rather buy it already made rather than trying to modify another belt on my own.

And yes, the gun belt did evolve over the films. The Raiders belt had a nickel-plated belt keeper and that was switched to leather in ToD. And then in LC the belt's hardware was made of brass (the buckle and the two rivets). Holt pointed out the brass hardware of LC to me and so that's what I look for when I look for a LC belt.

I bought the Crystal Skull belt from Whip Artistry Studios, and I'm happy with it. However, I would suggest ordering a size up to get that loose fit Indy always seems to have.

the raiders had a dark brown with a nickel finish buckle and with a silver nickel loop.it did not have the leather loop

the ToD had a very dark brown and looks black on screen.it is with a silver nickel finish buckle that is more square

the LC had a very ditresses look to it. distressed to be very light and it did had a square brass buckle with no brass loop only a leather loop.

the CS had a light brwon color with a square silver nickel buckle

Bigger than the four extra inches that Gery recommends? I'm glad to finally hear from someone that has this belt. Thanks.

I was thinking of going larger than the four inches as well. Not only for the sag of the belt but also for the extra length we see hanging free from Indy's LC belt. Gery's belt doesn't have much excess after the belt is buckled. It looks to be at least five inches too short. Especially compared to the screen grab he has on his web site.

Nassik

Nassik,

Gery said his belts are sized 4 inches bigger than a normal belt, not that you should order them 4 inches larger. My waist size is a 32, I ordered a 34 but I could have probably gone with a 36 for that Last Crusade look.

Seems as if the CS belt is pretty much a lighter version of the ToD, just worn upside down I guess.

I just received another e-mail from Gery L. Deer of Whip Artistry Studios regarding the LC gun belt. It reads as follows...

"We’ve done some review of the photos of the LC belt and you are correct on the rivets used to hold the buckle and keeper to the belt.

However, the buckle is not brass, it’s nickel, just like the snap and rivets. It seems that in a few shots the lighting reflects in such a way to make it LOOK brass.

In any case, we are making up a prototype of that belt, hopefully with a buckle that is nearly identical to the one used in the films, and we’ll have it for sale soon at the same price as our other models. Thanks!

Gery L. Deer"

That's a bit of good news. It drops the price of the gun belt back down to $59.99
This whole brass versus nickel-plated is up in the air, though. I hear and see arguments for both.
