Nylon whips and wax

I've heard that some makers dip their whips into a paraffin wax. It adds weight ? Does it change the color of whip? And just dip the whip in it and let it dry?

I asked that same question not two months ago. Pyramid blaster and Ron both indicated that the wax may affect the strength. The most convincing argument to not get my nylon whips waxed though was the incredibly low melting point of wax. Forget ever leaving the whip in a hot car.

It darkens it ia bit...and deposits white crusty wax between plaits.
I don't generally do it. Hollowpond is right, it will melt in a hot car.
