The KOTCS webbelt
Do you think that the KOTCS webbelt is brown (like in Raiders) or beige/tan (like in LC)?

In one scene it looks really dark (compared to the pants) but in every other scene it is much lighter. In most promotional shots it looks like it is the same color as the pants.
Faded brown is probably the best answer.
I have been waiting for Todd to ship a tan web belt since May. Has anyone ever tried to dye a tan web belt?

In my opinion, the belt used there is a dark brown belt distressed heavily, maybe with soap and some bleach. It's like mine. I bought mine long ago by Noel Howard. All Noel's items were heavily distressed.
To be honest the khaki belt was the item that I liked the least from the overall outfit. Maybe the producers noticed that and they returned to the original setup.
Here's mine. Both come from Noel Howard during the MBA times.

Well Platon this difficult to say mainly because of the colour palette that the new movie had and plus Douglas Slocombe was not the director of photography. The colour palette this time was 50's based giving more vivid colours thus making exaggerated the look of the whole scenery. ex. The sky was strange, the shirt at the indoor shots had a very green hue and the pants looked shiny as MODERATOR WORD REMOVAL. WATCH YOUR LANGUAGE HERE.
Considering that this time Bernie Pollack had access to the Lucasfilm archives and supposedly copied the colours exactly, I would vote that the KOTCS pants are similar if not identical to the LC pants. Of course the pants looked like brown, because of the boxes in the intro scene and because of the lighting that the principal photographer wanted to achieve. But in the atomic bomb scene it can be seen clearly that the pants had a pink hue similar to the LC pants.
So, after all this academic explanation I think that they can be categorised more as brown than taupe even if taupe is categorised as brownish grey.

Do you think the buckle is steel or brass (in KotCS)?

I guess I was asking what it looked like to y'all underneath the top coat of brass.
Yep, in the pics above, they both look like tarnished brass.
(On my tan belt, I just ordered a steel buckle. Oh well.)

Nearly 3 years ago AC helped me order some belts from Todd, a couple of LC and a couple of dark brown.
To me the CS belt really bears no relation the the sand coloured Todd belt at the top. (please ignore the cheap belt in the middle!).
My brown belt is still going strong after all this time and several washes in the machine, I'm still on the first one! If I can find the unused brown one I will take a pic of the 2 side by side.
To me it looked brown, but aged! Heck, I don't know and I don't really care. It is what it is...and, that is what it is! It seems to me that many of us here -- and, I have done this...want SA looks...but, does it really mean that much? Why not just enjoy what is available and not get carried away with the 'small stuff!' Just my 'two cents!' W>

I tried washing my Todd's brown web with clorox and it hardly faded at all. Then I looked in a drawer I haven't looked in lately and lo and behold I already had a web belt in a kind of orange/tan color. It had a black buckle and tab. Bought it at an Army/Navy store years ago. I swapped buckles and tabs from a khaki web and voila, a Crystal skull Indy web belt. By the way I have found dull brass buckles at Hancock Fabric stores for around $3. I'll try to post a pic later.
