I wear it in the front for the way it looks, but there is a setback which I'm sure many have experienced: Sometimes when you walk/run, the handle starts beating you in the knee or leg which doesn't feel good at all!

I switch it around - and sometimes I even have the handle on top - a la Well of the Souls!

I've done it both ways, but prefer the front.

I like it in the middle. But since I can't seem to make that work, I wear it in front. However, I have noticed that after using it, if I don't pay attention, I tend to put the handle toward the back unconsciously.

In a lot of the mine scenes there are clear shots of him wearing the handle at the back. Also, I just find that the whip tends to behave better this way and not unravell when I wear it backwards.

Toward the back - having it in the front ( for me ) is an annoyance as the
handle has a tendency to smack me in the legs while walking. For practical
use, the well of the souls method makes the most sense - the handle is
clipped securely in the keeper, and pointed forward, making for a quick,
one-handed, across-the-body draw. :junior:

That's the way I always wear it. I just can't stand having the handle banging against my legs. :junior: -M

I'm typically found wearing it with the handle inside the whipholder and facing front. This way it is setup for a crossdraw and can be flicked out. If I remember correctly, this is actually the setup that Indy is using when we first see him use it in Peru.
Another note, is that when worn this way, "whip slip" isn't as much of a problem.

I voted "depends on my mood", but most often, I wear it handle in the back, or simply slung over my shoulder and across the chest as in my avatar. I also tend to carry it on my right side as I don't have a holster there, and I'm right handed, it just makes sense and feels natural to me. It also stays clear of the satchel that way.
Here are some pics that illustrate why I typically choose to carry it handle in the back.
It stays out of the way when your climbing.
It doesn't trip you up or smash your kneecaps when your running.

Thank you gentlemen! I rather like it myself. I was flying down that hill at a pretty good pace, and would not have enjoyed the event nearly as much if my whip was tangling me up and causing me pain. The sharp rocks and thorns were bad enough!
