Harrison Ford

Post by RichardSK »

Just an interesting bit that I really didn't know where to post. I just returned from Juneau Alaska where I spent the Fourth. In Juneau where there are only four hours of darkness this time of year, they celebrate the Fourth with fireworks at midnight on the third. I found out the day after that Harrison Ford had stayed down the hall from me at the Baranof Hotel and had dinner there while we decided to eat out. The reason I mention this is that I took my Wested jacket and my AB on the trip as it was on and off showers and the hat is great in light rain. To have run into him at the hotel and to had him autograph the sweatband would have made my AB a true collector's item.

Neat story. Too bad you didn't run into him, that would have been a hoot!
Would love to see some pic of your gear in action up there. :)

Cheers!

I have to say that I didn't take many photos. There's not alot to see or do othet than drink which is the main past time of the locals. The sun goes down around 11:30 p.m. and they drink hard into the night.
I have to say that I could wear the gear without any comments up there. I wore pants, boots, belt jacket and hat without anyone putting two and two together. Now to have run into Ford like that might have been embarrising.

You wore the gunbelt up there? With holster and all? I'd be scared to wear that in public if it weren't halloween

Having lived in alaska most of my life, until very recently, i can tell you that wearing that lid is no biggie. People up there wear leather and hats with regularity to go fishing or hunting, same goes for boots. Alaska's like the b*****d child of oklahoma and texas.

The only place generally that you can and will get negative comments is in Anchorage, its city, and even there its rare.

Hope you at least enjoyed rainy juneau, its pretty when its not raining. But welcome to Alaska in the summer.

Even here in DC i still wear my jeans and boots when not going to work. Those along with my brown fedora make me stand-out like a gorilla at a chimpanzee convention.
