Question on cleaning an Indy Backpack

Post by Indiana Rich »

Hi all,

I recently purchased an Indy backpack like the one he uses in KOTCS. Unfortunately, it kind of has a musty surplus store smell to it.

I was wondering the best way to wash it. I asked the eBay buyer I bought it from and he recommended against putting it in the washer and dryer, partly because he didn't know how the material would handle it and partly because of the rubberized bottom of the bag.

He recommended a wet soapy washrag and a clean water washrag and then letting it airdry. This sounds rather tedious  Any better ideas?

Thanks

if it is the one from KOTCS then it should be from the german army. It got much dirtier when they used it in the field, so I think it should withstand a washer, but I would not do it into the dryer. I had all my things during my time in the army in the washer and it didn't hurt.
