The stuff dreams are made of..

Post by Kit Walker »

There I was upstairs in the bedroom installing new blinds on the window
when I hear the panicy voice of the love of my life,'come quick it's an emergency!'

Well I dropped what I was doing and raced downstairs to the kitchen.
And what should I find when I get there? My wife standing at the backdoor with a box in her hot little hands and an ear to ear grin on her face.

"I thought you might want this" she said and tossed me the box.

One glance told me all I needed to know...It was my Wested goat Raiders!!!!!! Well after tearing open the outerwrap and struggling with the box(being my first Indy jacket my hands were understandably shaking a bit)

Well once I got it opened and read the certificate of authenticity I shakily removed the jacket from the bag. As I slid the jacket from the bag my wife gave an awe filled gasp from across the room "It's beautiful" was all she could say as she and I gazed wide eyed upon the culmination of a quest that started in the heart of a twelve year old boy in a theatre in 1981.

Well I will tell you I was a little nervous after ordering--did I get the measuments right? did I order the right hide, etc?
Well those doubts melted away as I unfolded that jacket and held it up to admire. This jacket is perfect.

I shot Peter an email to thank him and to enquire if this was the authentic goat or the reg goat since the time I put in the order was around the time of the expected arrival of the authentic goat I left the choice of which of the two hides to use up to Peter. Well I should hear from Peter next week as to which it is but if I had to guess I would say the authentic because it looks very close in color to the authentic lamb pictures MK posted.

Well I've taken up enough of your time and thanks for "listening".

P.S. as I said at the beginning this jacket is truly the stuff dreams are made of.
Now all I need is my Keppler fedora, had to pass my Disney fedora to my 11 year old cause it got a bit snug for my noggin. So until then I may be fedora-less but at least I've got one kick-### jacket

Now that is a great story. Congrats on your new jacket. I have yet to see the goat in the new color. Post some pics for us.

I am very happy for you, CB! I believe you and I are the same age and for me, that culimination--that cherished moment in time--happened for me in January of 2002, one day after the birth of my second son. Two outstanding arrivals in two days (how about that, Fisk?). What a year! I now wait for my authentic Raiders goat and will be waiting for that Kepler fedora for a while longer but Lee is working on it. It's nice to know I am in good company! 8)

Cheers,

I back you up totally. I was thrilled when mine came. I loved it instantly and ordered a second one less than a month later :D

I'm thinkng the same thing. If I really love the authentic goat as much as I think I will, then I am going to turn right around and order one in the authentic lambskin.

I think we all remember the day our first Wested arrived. When I got mine, I 'babied' it, cuz as much as I wanted to wear it, and knew it was made for action, I also wanted to keep it for show. A few months later, I buckled, put it on diplay in my 'Indy Room' for show, and ordered another for 'Go'. Now, I don't care if it gets rained on, or snowed on, and I'll wear it in -30 C (Oh, Canadaaaaaaa) without a second thought. I love that I can relax when I'm in the 'stunt' jacket, but that one display......ya never forget your first. Welcome to the Club.

Well I got my reply from Peter today. It is definitely the authentic goat and it is absolutely awesome. The greyish tint people have spoken of regarding goat is not existent in this new hide. The color is almost exactly that of MK's authentic lamb (when compared to the pictures in MK's Tale of Peter and the Lamb). It is a very very beautiful brown.

Congrats CB.

.... but wait....

You mean to say, you actually took the time to read the Letter of Authenticity BEFORE tearing into the jacket?! shame, shame.

Enjoy your aquisition.

I have picked up my jackets from Wested and Flight Suits, so I have not had that experience......but I don't feel cheated. 8)

congrats....

I'm thinking about getting a second jacket.
Probably a authentic lamb.

my first one was a dark lamb.
I need something durable, yet light for
my adventure days. Would a goat
be too heavy and hot for.... say
70-80 degree F ?
