How would you guys ranks the following Wested leathers in terms of heaviness in a jacket: dark brown lamb, authentic lamb, goat, cow, and lambtouch? Thanks.

Lambtouch is by far the best jacket I've ever owned. I've worn it every day since it arrived. Heavy sweater or Chammise Shirt with the Jacket and Akubra... I'm the hottest guy at work in more ways then one.

Shame on you, Michaelson! Mr. Botwright has done so much for all of us overly-obsessed Indy fans, and the last thing we want to do is alienate him. The man is a living legend, as far as I'm concerned, and his leather wisdom is Gospel. In fact, I think he should write a book about jackets like David Morgan has done for whips. :D

P.S.- I'm just playing with you, old friend. I just wanted to get in on the conversation (but I wasn't kidding about Peter writing a book- I really think he should do that).

I tend to agree with you there Whipwarrior....just like they have Boigraphical books and television shows about a particular person, I was thinking....I think it would be very interesting to have something like that done with Peter. A book on how he got into the clothing manufacturing business, his personal experiences while producing products for a particular movie, or perhaps writing a book on how the "Raiders" jacket was designed / formed and took changes through the years.....

okay, okay, I'm getting too excited, lol :D

Later!

Wel, Peter. It sound like a biography is in order! It doesn't have to be an autobiography since I know you're busy enough as it is so perhaps someone could write it for you? Just trying to second the motion! :D

Uh, Dale....

....if you don't know me better than than, I'm not sure how to even reply to your post. :? I've known Peter longer than you've been around the hobby, and he and I email back and forth on a regular basis, and he KNOWS I like to kid him. I know you're 'playing around with me', but your post was not appreciated being one of the first read on a Monday. Michaelson

Hey, there, boys...

Actually, Michaelson, I think Dale's tounge was planted firmly in cheek for that one....maybe he was just being his usual sarcastic self? If not, Dale, then open mouth and insert both feet....repeat until you're tired of tasting Alden leather and oil resistant neoprene....

Later y'all!

Authentic lamb is heavier than lambtouch cowhide? Interesting.

That's okay, I understand. I seem to have that effect on people sometimes. Nobody should pursue me first thing on a Monday morning- at least not without a cup of coffee or two. Indydawg was right- I was just being my usual sarcastic self (can't help it being a NewsRadio fan). Anyhoo, I have to go, because today is my lady's birthday, and I have to e-mail her agent!

Im going to open a window and let this anger out. You can cut it with a knife. One of the worst things about the internet. Jokes can go horribly wrong. Im very sarcastic and some of my jokes might come off mean, but its all in good fun. Increase the peace lasses and gents.

Oh, I'm not mad. Far from it, in fact. But you have to admit- the Peter Botwright leather jacket book is a good idea. :D

An apology

Okay, let's resolve this thing once and for all. Occasionally I may come off sounding harsh or demeaning, but in reality I'm just trying to be funny because that's how I relate to people. I'd been perusing this thread when a spark of inspiration hit me. In this case, I devised a way to propose a neat idea (a book by Peter Botwright) within the context of a light, and hopefully humorous, admonishment. I apologize if it was taken the wrong way, and I honestly meant no harm by it.

I am aware that the internet can be a deceptive form of communication, since we can only invest so much 'emotion' into our words, and have no way of knowing how they will be taken. In the interest of preventing future misunderstandings, perhaps I should write a warning preceding any posts in which I decide to be humorous and/or witty [ex: JOKE AHEAD]. This will inform sleepy readers who may not make a distinction between a lighthearted taunt and a perceived flaming. For those in the gray, I'll explain the difference so we can get on with our happy Indygear lives.

THIS is a flame:

'The PB Custom is a sucky hat and anybody who wants one is either too stupid or too cheap to buy a Herbert Johnson.'

P.S.- This is not my personal opinion, merely an example.

THIS is a joke (paraphrased by memory from an episode of Dennis Miller Live):

"O.J. Simpson recently hosted a benefit party at his Beverly Hills mansion to raise money to find Nicole's real killer. Now, I don't want to say that he has big cojones, but we normally see balls this huge rolling through a cavern behind Indiana Jones." :D
