The Pants

Post by floyd1977 »

What is a good place to get some SA pants? I've found the Magnoli expedition pants but they are a bit pricy... Any other good places? It I was to get the expedition, what colour is most SA?

Hi Floyd,

Depending on your perception about SA...then Noel's gear offerings were the most SA at least to the majority of fans and to me. Unfortunately, they are not any more. :(
Some argue that the pants used on Raiders and ToD/LC were always the same colour but the colour capturing and shooting techniques were different. Some state that the pants colour were different in Raiders than ToD/LC. :?
A good intermediate solution is Wested pants since depending on the lighting used they can resemble both. In terms of cut, the best available right now are Magnoli's and Platon's. It depends on the body type also.

The least expensive are the Wested.

However, I heard lately that Noel's gear might be offered again by Wested Leather in collaboration with an other person. This is gonna take a bit long. Just stay tuned.

I have both a Wested and a Magnolia. To me, the Wested fits better and the fabric seems much more durable (and it's cheaper!). The Magnolia is a good pants but the fit is much tighter (even though its custom) and the stitching seems more fragile....as a matter of fact, I had to take it to my tailor to have some stitching redone after receiving the pants.

i received my wested pants yesterday. an excellent bang for the buck considering that they are cavalry twill wool. imo, they are cut and coloured like the CS pants......which hopefully is correct considering they patterned peter's samples.

in comparison to the NH's, these are similar in colour to the raiders NH but it should be noted that wested's material weight is significantly lighter than the NH offerings. Platon's Pants are about the same weight as NH pants (if not a miniscule amount lighter) and they are also significantly heavier than wested's pants.

appearance wise, paris and NH's pants are finished better as i see alot of threads exposed on wested's stitching...they are not loose threads, they are just popping out here and there. something extremely minor imo. just by looks alone, the wested pants appear to be mass produced factory pants whereas the paris/NH's have clean finishes much like you would get from a made to measure tailor.....hopefully you get the idea.

price wise, you can't beat wested pants and i thank peter for offering these. i may just pick up another pair
