This weekend I had two project. I was hoping to make a Nylon Whip following rjallen70's tutorial, the other project developed while looking for the parts to begin the whip. While shopping I starting thinking of a whip holder. I decided this would be a much easier project to complete.
So I began with a cardboard folder and cut out my KISS (Keep it simple stupid) design. It seemed like the concept would work. So I cut out the pattern from a very old piece of leather. I then glued it with Gorilla Glue (which is awesome) and clamped it. That all happened on Friday.
Saturday after the glue had set. I used my Dremel tool to sand the rough edges. I then applied several application of saddle soap and Pecards. I used my soldering iron to sear the edges. Today I bought the lace and cut the little flaps.
I think it looks ugly, but it works very well. It does not appear to slip much and is not too much of a pain to load and unload. I would say it can be made for under $5.00 and about an hour of time.

By the way. I did make some progress on the Nylon whip, mostly learning the basics of plaiting.
