Dyeing khaki pants, Dyeing a Wested shirt

I just recently dyed a pair of $2.00 Khaki thrift store trousers. The are basically the same color as the L. L. Bean Dark Khaki cotton trousers. the experiment worked out great. I mixed Rit liquid yellow and dark brown dye. Mix up about 1/4 cup of each color. I did it in the washing machine as per instructions. A very nice tapue color now. (Yes, I'll have to take some pics)

Anyone have any luck dyeing a Wested shirt? I'd like to make it just a little darker. Someone earlier mentioned that the recent batch of shirts is a 80% 20% cotton blend. Will this dye OK?

Hey Indiana Jake,

Follow this link for redying your Wested shirt.

About the shirt being 80% Cotton 20% Poly...the dye will be absorbed less thus giving you a lighter colour.

If you can't find the dyes mentioned above try Dalexs' recipe found on his website.

Good luck

I dyed some cheap Khaki pants that I got at Target for $10.00. My wife wanted to go to JoAnn fabric and I saw Taupe Rit dye so I got it (they had a coupon for like $1.00 off of whatever you bought) so for something like $11.50 I ended up with some reasonably close pants (well reasonably close for ME ;) )

The color might not be a 100% perfect match but it looks good to me :D
I had problems getting the pants to stay still for that pic... my wife's cat kept attacking them. lol
