If you live in the Seattle area tune into KING at 7:00 wednesday. Looks like they're gonna have Mr. Morgan on "evening magazine".

This video will be for all of us (for today and for the future) an important document of HISTORY OF THE WHIPMAKING.
So as all important documents, this video should be saved.
:whip: Thanks for all Mr. Morgan

Hi,

two things amazed me. First is how he cut the strands... for me it's dream. I still use strander :D. And his index fingers. Anyway it's very good video showing to me how it looks in US.

Very good :)

Karol

Did anyone waiting for their Morgan bullwhip see their name on the list they show in the story?

Great Clip!

If that clip just aired recently, I'm sure any of you can contact the TV station and order a DVD with that clip on it. At least, I've ordered 'aired' clips from other TV stations before, so this one might do the same thing.

He's got to be kidding. He's never seen the Indiana Jones films?
And that's crazy how much his fingers have bent over time. I guess there's no way to prevent that?

GREAT piece, indeed! Thanks for sharing.

And Adam's right. Most of the time, if you e-mail or snail mail a station with your address and a couple bucks to cover shipping, they'll send you a copy.

As a former TV Station employee however, might I suggest that if folks want a copy of this, we designate ONE person to request it, and then duplicate and distribute from there.

The person who usually handles story-on-DVD requests is either the reporter themselves or someone from the marketing/sales department, and they're typically REALLY busy. If they're flooded with requests, they might very well ignore them, or take their sweet time getting any of them out. And it would probably be better if it shipped to someone relatively local.

Just my thoughts.

All the best,

-Dan

Yes, this really was a superb piece.

It just aired Wednesday, I already sent an inquiry to the station as soon as I seen they had posted the video online asking about the possibility of getting a downloadable copy of the story. Unfortunately they said they didn’t have that feature avalible, So early today I sent another request about possibly ordering a copy on DVD. I also sent Will Morgan a message asking if they had got a copy, as sometimes the Stations will provide a clip to the subject the story is on. I’ll let you all know what I hear back.

That was wonderful to see. Thank you. It was great to see both David and Meagan plaiting. I'd love a DVD copy some day if it is available.

Wow! I feel like I should genuflect or something! What a great clip, it's also great to see Megan at work. I know the recent movie has to be taken into consideration, but that work order goes a long way to dispel any notion that Morgan & Co are slowing down.

best,
Gene

The shot of him cracking the whip in the store is where he taught my daughter to crack a whip btw, the carpet used to be pretty worn there but I think they replaced it. He is amazing because he can crack the whip without imparting much energy into it.

What a nice little feature!

I had noticed his fingers before.... but never put two and two together with the braiding.

That spot where he cracks the whip is very tiny. whenever he has me crack a whip when I'm at his shop I'm always nervous that I'm going to knock over a rack of $700 coats.

The area he cracks in is about 5 -6 feet wide by about 22 feet long. On one side of you are racks of coats and the other side is a glass case!

Yikes! I guess it might be easier if yer handling a well-broken in whip, but how does that work out with a stiff new one?

That small rectangle of shop space must be one of the most famous sites to visit.

See what I've been telling you, man???!?!!!?! It's all about the STRAIGHT LINES! <IN MY BEST SCREECHING TONY LITTLE "TECHNIQUE!" VOICE>

I throw my 8 footer in my living room all the time, and I don't have much more space than that, (actually maybe only 10 or 12 feet long. Maybe 14 with the living room closet open. But unlike the venerable Mr. Morgan, I'm not throwing 10 and 12 foot whips around in there!) I also practice in my front yard which is now VERY small and covered by trees. I have a narrow little pocket where I have enough clearance to do forwards and circus cracks, (and if I REALLY reign them in, sidearms and overheads.) This forces you into maintaining an INCREDIBLE amount of control.

Move into a wide open space after that, and it feels like you can do anything with a whip!

Hello COW'ers, it seems that there's a "new" video of Morgan giving a lesson about how to crack the whip. Sadly, the guy never success, even though he had a great teacher

http://www.king5.com/video/?z=y&nvid=255770

By the way, i've tryed lots of ways to download the other video, but like the guy in the video, i haven't been lucky.

Has anyone recived any info about it?

Good things to all of you...

Thank you for sharing that video. That guy was trying fairly well but with a small space like that, I'm sure it'd rather difficult for a new cracker. Morgan was rather encouraging too. :D

Yep, i guess you're right. But it seems that in the final part of the video when he whips himself, apparently he surrendered. :whip:
And the final comment of Morgan "You're learning now" was amazing!
