... if he can just make the jacket out of another leather. I might get one in the future but I'm not really crazy about the distressed cow hide. I don't quite get the limited run of 777 as well. Would he really turn down the business if someone called him and asked if he could make a jacket using the same pattern as KCS at a point in the future?
It makes no sense to me....

As I understand it, Lucasfilm gave Tony permission to sell 777 limited edition jackets with the Indy logo, as Belstaff now holds the official license. He can probably sell as many others as he wants to after that as long as he doesn't use the Indiana Jones name.
As for the distressed cowhide, the jacket would not be screen accurate without it. One of the major pluses of this jacket is that it is exactly what we see Harrison Ford wearing on screen, in every detail. That's not just hype. Tony really follows through on what you are promised.

I totally and completely understand why people would want one of these 777 jackets made with this hide. I'm just not one of them. But what you're saying is that he could sell the jacket under a different name, with the same hide (from the same source) once the 777 have all been sold? It just won't be an "official" reproduction even though it'll be exactly the same as the jackets he's selling now (but without the message and number in the lining). It's a funny old world we live in

Toll, this is a good question, because it takes into account how people's attitudes might change over time. Alot of COWers may not have a liking of the KCS jacket now, but in a few years might take a liking to it. I like it now myself, but am seeking a lighter-weight Indy in lamb or goat, as opposed to the heavier cowhide of Tony's jacket. It is quite possible that in a few years I will want to order this jacket, and hopefully he will have enjoyed working with the COW members enough, along with feeling that the market will generally bear the continuity of making jackets into the future, so that he will make the business decision to make them indefinitely.

Bob... you too have a point. I was just looking at the most recent photos of the TN jacket on another thread and they actually look pretty sweet. I like the very light distressing he gives them, not a fan of the heavy distressing he does though. I don't feel the need to have the message on the lining so I might just sit this one out. Who knows... maybe the price will come down once he starts selling them as "The Adventure Jacket"
