I got the expedited shipping, so I should be receiving it in a few short days!
Now where's that info on a "cold bash?"

Looking for
this tutorial?
Also, if you do notice some discoloration with the area that you got wet, moisten the hat evenly, then let it dry on a towel on its crown. Happened to my Fed IV.

Congrats Super!!! Can't wait to see the hat. BTW - I have a vintage fedora in dark gray that looks just like the one in your avatar...very nice vintage hat.

I really want to get one, but I just know I'm going to mess up when bashing it... I don't suppose there's a US company that buys them and sells them bashed for a slightly higher price? (It'd probably be worth it once you factor in the shipping from AU?)

David Morgan now offers styling services on the open-crown hats they sell. Try the "Adventurer" on their website.

Ive never bashed a hat before until I got my Fed IV. It's actually quite easy, and enjoyable, once you start doing it. I think the easiest way to do it is to use a little steam from a kettle. It softens the fur right up and it allows you to shape it in any way you choose. Happy bashing!

You will not be disappointed!!!
....and trust me, a Fed was the first hat I've bashed...its not that hard. If I can offer a couple noob to noob tips:
1) Don't put in a hard crease (i.e. pinch it tight) until you're sure that's where you want it.
2) Put it on your head, then do the front (easier than moving your nose afterward) so it's lined up.
3) Dont' get impatient and use steam. It takes longer but it will eventually set. However that also gives you time to tweak it until you're sure that's how you want it.
That's all the personal advice I can offer from this noob's experience. But I really suggest you try it. The felt is very forgiving and you can work it until you get it right.
Besides it gives you a certain satisfaction knowing that you've bashed your own hat and that's something that not many people these days can say!

Well, I ordered the bashing service from David Morgan with it, but if I'm feeling adventurous I'll try rebashing it myself
