Do a very simple search for this topic by using the search button at
the top of the page.
You will find TONS of info on this topic, which has been discussed to
death, and as Michaelson says, has had heads chopped off and fed to
lions for their YEARS of experience with leather items on the subject.
But, in the end, think of it this way. YOU paid alot of money for a
pre-distressed leather jacket, that has its outer surface opened up in
areas to make it look old, even though its brand new.
What do you THINK you should do to protect it from the rain, snow, and bad weather?
What do you/would you do to protect any other articles of clothing that
you own that are made from leather to keep them from getting soaked,
and absorbing water and getting stained? Or to help keep them shedding
said water, and to help the leather items to last a long, long time?
Its your jacket. Do what YOU want to it. You can take the advise of
people who have owned hundreds of leather jackets over the years, and
those that have made alot of money restoring old leather items that were dry, brittle,
and cracked, and had what is commonly known as "Red Rot".
Or, you can do nothing.
Its up to you.
