Please help with USWINGS SIZE

Greetings all,

A friend of mine wants an Indy Jacket and is not too keen on screen accuracy rather wanting good construction and proper fit. So he has opted for a USWINGS eventhough I have educated him about Wested or Flightsuites as other choices, he finds the Uswings a good middle ground between the two and I am inclined to believe it aswell.

With that said...
Would any one be able to give the measurements from shoulder to shoulder and the length of a sleeve of a USwings jacket in either a size M or L.
Is their vintage cowhide a heavy jacket when compared to lamb, I ask because it is decribed as being light?

He normally wears a size 42R, which would make him a Large but when it comes to off the rack jackets he finds himself fitting into a Medium better.

Any help would be great!

Kind regards and all the best,
Stefan

In true sizing, if he wears a 42R, a Medium in the Wings sizing is just about right. That's what I wear, and get lost in the large myself, and I've tried several Wings versions, but no luck. Their medium, on the other hand, fit perfectly. The vintage cowhide is about the same weight as the new finish cowhide in a Wested. Regards. Michaelson

Thanks Michaelson,

Is the vintage cowhide a dark brown or is it as light as the older wested distressed hides which were sort of a tan in color?

Kind regards and all the best,
Stefan

Well, I'll call Michaelson's Medium adivice

And raise you a definite thumbs up for the vintage cowhide choice.

Having seen and handled all the Wings leathers (except the roo hide) I can say that the vintage cowhide is the BEST looking, wearing, and feeling leather they've got going.

Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong....

It sounds like your friend, indeed, needs the medium size instead of the large. I, also, fit the large size jacket in USWings sizing, but I got the medium and it fits perfectly!

Thanks to Indydawg for his suggestions when I ordered mine. I would have been swallowed by the large.

I got the goat and I love it. I don't know about the other leathers, so I cannot compare, but the goat has a nice weight to it and it is so soft. I have had it about a year and it is really starting to show some character. My wife complimented me on it recently.

You can't go wrong with the 'Wings'.

Perfect color, not so perfect fit

I recently just recieved my us wings indy vintage cowhide. As for the color and feel I think its the best that us wings has to offer. The color you see from the site is pretty true to real life. I on the other hand fit a 36R jacket and ordered the medium. Unfortunatly I had to take it back because it didnt fit right, and I was looking for an excuse to get a Wested which I did. I personally would get the Wested. Its cheaper in price as well. Plus I think the sizes are too broad, a medium fits a wide range of different sizes. But the shoulders seemed to be too wide. It looked like I had shoulder pads on. Also it did seem pretty heavy. But thats just my opinion. Good luck.

It's my opinion as well Atticus as far as to the broad sizing of jackets from US Wings, especially the Indy jackets.

First of all, definitely a Medium.

Second, the hides are slightly tan and quite light - there is a thread around here with a photo of my jacket in the "Pecarding" stage. Percards darkens it right up, but the highlights of the destressing show through in no time.
