MK VII

Post by floyd1977 »

I just ordered an original MK VII from WPG but the leather straps were out of stock. Can anyone direct me to a resonalby priced strap for it? Also how should I go about replacing the original strap? Do I cut them off and somehow attach the leather strap or just tuck the original strap into the bag?

You could either tuck the old strap in and leave it on, or remove the stitches and keep in intact by sliding it out.

I ordered my strap from Todd's Costumes (puppetboy here on COW). You can check the vendors page on the main Indygear.com site. I'm pretty sure Magnoli also does them, as well as Lee Keppler.

I cut the original strap off of my bag. I could have tucked it in, or removed the stitches and taken it off intact...but after some debate, I figured if I'm going to beat the living daylights out of the thing, the original strap won't be worth reattaching. ;)

Also, it's not bad keeping some of the strap material for the future in case the O-ring holders give in. You can make new ones out of the material. ;)

Mine have started fraying a bit and I should replace them soon enough on my every day bag.

I've ordered the same thing as you floyd, bag from WPG, strap from Todds

Also ordered a web belt at the same time.. nearly had a heart attack when I saw the $25 shipping charge on the $24.95 order.

Yeah, the shipping is pretty ridiculous considering it's UPS ground.

Are you refering to the shipping on WPG? Mine was 10.50, which seems awfully high for one bag....
I dont think I could bring myself to pay shipping that doubles the price of an item, 10.50 was almost a deal breaker....

WPG shipping is okay, they use Priority Mail, I was referring to Todd's. A little pricey for the slow shipping service.

humm... I was looking to get my shirt from them. Maybe I'll have to reconsider if the price of shipping is going to make it cost as much as some of the other shirts that are available...

my shipping from WPG was $20.30, but that was for two bags..

but $25 for a leather strap.. sheesh.. too bad I'm so given to impulse buys.. if only WPG hadn't been sold out :(

I do like the look of that strap though, but 25.00 shipping is just too much... Does the buckle come with it? I see it is also sold alone.

yes, it does.. I only kept my order in because the only other offering out there is Magnoli's for $40, so unless they were going to be only 10 bucks shipping, then there was no point in cancelling

Is the shipping way over priced on all their items or is it some way of appearing to undercut the other straps, only to jack up the shipping to roughly the same price as the other companys?

I don't know where you live Piers but the shipping does seem really high to me. I would ask them to look into it. Here are shipping prices from all three of my Todd orders.

Bag/Strap, Fullers Earth, Hat Brush = $12.00 shipped

Shirt = $10.00 shipped

Whip, whip holder, web belt, holster = $20.00 shipped

I live in Indiana so I don't know if this makes a difference regarding the price.

I did just send my whip back to be exchanged and used FedEx priority overnight to help speed up the exchange process and it COST $45.00

Beware, the Todd's deluxe bag strap buckle may have pock marks and /or pin head holes it. Mine does. It's a pretty crude casting. That may not bother some people though.

Anyone order Lee Keppler's bag strap from Adventure Supply? I have a bag strap order from Todd's, but it's in the same order as my medium shirt. Wondering if Lee has any more in stock, then maybe I should order one from him to get it in time for Comic Con.

Also, anyone have the telephone number for the Adventure Supply store? It's been almost 3 weeks since I sent my e-mail with no response. I'd rather purchase through phone.

Lee Keppler 619-647-6744

I just ordered a bag strap from him last week. I'm hoping to get it soon.

I'm in Calgary.. Web belt + bag strap = $49.90 shipped :?

It must be a flat rate shipping price.. and I would feel dumb asking them to look into it, the price was right there when I processed my order, and I accepted it. I didn't have to, and I have regrets now, but nobody forced me to take it.. I'll just make really sure the next time, if there is a next time.

Yeah, he charged me $6.00 shipping. I think he said he was oiling a new batch of straps 2 days ago so I hope he ships mine Monday.

Shipping prices have gotten crazy. Just check out EelBay and see the madness.

I got Todd's deluxe strap and shipping was $10, half the cost of the item. If I hadn't wanted it so much there's no way I would have gone for it. It arrived regular mail in a simple padded envelope. Way less than $10 worth.

WPG is pricey but use Priority Mail so it's a better deal.

The bag strap was great though and the buckle excellent.

Well, I always give credit where credit is due.. I didn't much like the shipping cost of $25 for a strap and a belt, but paid it anyways, as the alternatives were much the same:

Strap on ebay - approx $40-50 + ship (although someone recently paid $280 for a Noel Howard strap!)
Strap from Magnoli - $39.99 + ship
Strap from Adventure Supply - $30 + ship
Strap from Todds - $24.95 + ship

Web belt $4.95, stores near me had them for at least $16

So already, I've saved money on each item. None of this takes into account the great quality of the items ..

The package was sent with signature confirmation, and each item was declared at a low value to avoid customs. It was shipped the day after I ordered, and got here 4 business days later, something almost unheard of in US->Canada shipping. The package cost $17 to send, so the cost padding I had expected was the case wasn't nearly the case. In the past, I have paid more in the past for faster, better tracked shipping from the States, and that's what I got from Todds, I just didn't know it at the time. When I saw USPS ground, I thought, Oh great, this is going to take forever and come in a bubble envelope. Not so. Well packed, sturdy box and quick as you please

Many thanks to Todd's Costumes, and I will most likely be back as a return customer!

Cheers,
Piers

I actually went ahead and ordered mine from Todds too. In fact I also got their adventure shirt. The prices were good and the shipping to a military APO was only 12.00.
I was looking at the one at adventure supply but i never got an email back and I got impatient. My bag from WPG is in but I have no strap...

Was waiting for my bulk Todd's package to arrive, but I was impatient, so now I'll eventually have duplicates. I just got the gunbelt+whip holder+ holster from eBay, tapered my WPG shirt, and Lee's bag strap just arrived (awesome shipping; looks great; thanks for the great service, Lee). I'll see if I like Todd's holster and whip holder more than the eBay one (most likely), and I'll most definitely like the fit of the Todd's shirt. Well, most people here have duplicate gear, so I don't feel that out of place (plus, I can do a practice distress on the eBay gear while waiting for Todd's stuff).

Got mine today, they're smaller than I thought they were going to be.. 10.5x10"

One is a musty J&AH and the other is a PSC in very nice condition.. I should have ordered a third, the original webstrap fits my sons perfectly :D
