New jacket: USW vintage cowhide jacket *NEW PICS*

I received my jacket earlier today. It is the standard U.S. Wings vintage cowhide jacket. I'm really glad that the color is darker than most pictures I've seen of this jacket and like always, USW's customer service was outstanding! I am relieved to say that my jacket search is over........ maybe

Looks great! I think people's flashes really lighten the color of USW jackets on this board. They're all darker than they appear.

Take some pics wearing it, now....

WOW!!! Looks really great....This might be the jacket I go with....How is the fit?? Did you order your size or did you go a size down?? I've heard they run a lil on the big side.

Mine arrived Monday and I keep putting it on even though the temps have been into the 90's. I love the thing. This is one substantial jacket!

Vegeta, there are some pics in the thread I posted when mine arrived. I think they represent the lightness/darkness pretty well. As far as size, I'd order what you usually wear and then exchange if necessay. The cow is fairly thick and that might make the size seem a bit different than a softer, thinner leather like lamb. Plus you might be dealing with too short sleeves with a smaller size.

Just leave the tags on and make the exchange if needed.

When it comes to the sizing, US Wings asks you for your weight and height. I've had some bad experiances with Wings' sizing in the past and I think it was beacause I gave them my correct measurments. So when I ordered the cowhide jacket, I lied about my measurments and told them I was 5'8 instead of 5'10 and that I weigh 120lbs. instead of 150lbs. The outcome of this is that my jacket fits like a charm! It has that Crystal Skull fit to it and that is what I was going for.
Here's two pics of me wearing the jacket.

That is a great looking jacket. funny you had to fudge the numbers to get a good fit, but it looks spot on from here.

Hahaha, I weigh 150, not 120lbs. Otherwise I'd be a little scared for myself right now

And thanks for the complements, fellas

Nah. Depends on your age. I was 6 feet 1 1/2 inches when I was in my early 20s and only weighted 135. Couldn't put on a pound no matter how much I ate or how much I exercised.
:(
That changed quickly after I got married though.

Really nice jacket indeed. Pockets look great. Not too big. Just perfect.

150lbs. seems to be the average weight for an 18 year old with the height of 5'10. I seriously need to start exercising, though. I'm starting to grow horizontally instead of vertically

This happens as you get older.

I believe its the hole in the ozone layer. It shrinks your pants so they
don't fit anymore, thus making you have to keep buying bigger and bigger
sizes.

It has nothing to do with pasta or beer...

I like that, Flathead. :D

I KNOW it CAN'T have ANYTHING to do with what I eat or my exercise regimum !!! 8-[

I took these photos today. This jacket is almost 2 years old and it keeps getting better. I didn't really like the fit at first, but as of late, I'm diggin' it :)

Very nice! And the fit should just get better and better as the jacket continues to "learn" your body and form to it....

Have you Pecarded it yet? If you want it darker, that'll surely do it!

Later!

I swear by Pecards. My FS Expedition (distressed cowhide) was REALLY light when I got it....6 years later (and about 20 Pecards treatments) and it's looking JUST about right....

It's great stuff....and you've got a GREAT looking jacket!

Thanks Indydawg, and Michael :D

I'm not sure if I want to buy one of the antique cowhide Indy jackets from Wings. After admiring this one for the past few days, I think I'll just stick to this one :-k Maybe...

Very nice, I think the US Wings length and fit make them look better, and differentiates them from a flight jacket or motorcycle jacket.
