Hi all
I am glad to be here. I've been reading for a while and my membership just got approved
I just recently finished my costume (a new whip is still in the future) But I most of it done. I got a Todd's costume jacket last month and Todd got it to me in about three days. I almost got a Wested, but decided to go local (CA and NV are close enough to be Local
) and could not be happier! I love this coat, I don't think I would be happier if I had paid the bucks for the British jacket
Here is a picture
I also set up a Indy page featuring the parts of my costume and my thoughts about them
I will post the link as soon as I work out how that works here
Thanks for looking and I am glad to be here

Nice costume there. And welcome. Now comes the other question you must ask yourself: to distress or not to distress?

Thanks guys! Yeah, I am already wrestling with the aging issue. I look "right out of the package" at the moment
My wife has threatened to harm me if I "damage" a $150 leather jacket. I will have to take that into account
I told her its what I do for a living (I am a professional Costumer) and I wouldn't damage I would just age it
We will see who wins on this one LOL
Here I am without the coat on

Who's pants, hat, and shirt is that?

The Hat is one I got at Disneyland around 10 years ago. I just had it re-blocked by a excellent hat guy here in Vegas. The Rodeo guys from all over the world have their hats done by this guy, The Shirt is a 'What Price Glory' with multiple washings (ALWAYS hang to dry, keeps it from shrinking) and a custom tailor job from Mens Warehouse.
The pants are Brown Hagar flat front work pants ($70, that got at my local outlet mall for $18!)
Comfy and affordable!

My first Indy shirt was a WPG. I washed it in cold water and hung it to dry. I DID shrink, more than inch or two in the sleeves and in the colar, too.

what size did you order from todd's? i'm kind of a "big guy" and the xxl seems like the way to go. is that what you got and if so how does it fit?
Thanks.
BTW...nice outfit. Thanks for sharing.
When i figure out how to post pix, i'll do mine

Its a 2XL, I have a 44" chest and a 36" waist so I had to tighten the belts in back and it fits great.
The XL probably would have been OK. but I like that I have room to move in it

Welcome to COW, i'm a fairly new member myself. Great looking gear. I havn't heard the best things about Todds Jacket, how is yours? I've heard it's more of a costume piece than an actual jacket.

Really cool pic! I love reading about people's elements of their gear and their thoughts about their stuff.
I can identify with the issue of a spouse's understanding about aging an expensive jacket.

*sigh* alas I contacted Todd and he said the run for new XXL size standards was just starting and would take about 2 months to complete..
Reason for the *sigh* is I was hoping to get one by mid-July for Comic Con in San Diego..so now I will be jacket-less...
If anyone here knows of someone who has one or wants to sell theirs because they "upgraded", pkease let me know......
Thanks....

Keep an eye out on the Cairo Bazaar. Hopefully you can get lucky and get a jacket there (what I did). Originally, I was just going to do the SOC look (no jacket) since it's so hot in SD for Comic Con (the over-crowdedness doesn't help either). I got lucky with a jacket at the bazaar, and I wish that you will too.
Hope to see a fellow gearhead at Comic Con.

Welcome to COW and all that is insane....
.
No really, your out fit is awsome, I have a Todds custom and couldn't be happier with it. These jackets are designed to age naturally "faster" than a regular jacket. Something to do with the tanning process me thinks.
Once again, welcome.

I've done nothing to artificially age my Todd's jacket. I have worn it daily and been drenched in thunderstorms and that is good enough for me. You may never see that much rain where you live, so you may want to soak it artificailly. I think that's all these jackets require to get a really great Raiders look to them.
