.455 Ammo

FYI:
I have been searching for .455 ammo and have come to the conclusion that chicken teeth are easier to find. The scrounger doesn't have any even though it is on their website. I called Fiocci(sp?) and I was told it comes from Italy. They have had it on back order for TWO YEARS!!!!
They HOPE to have some in a couple of months. I was thinking of getting a S&W 1917 .455 like the one in the movie, but the is no way I am going to buy a gun chambered for a round that no one has.
possible alternative

I've heard, I can't quite remember where right now, that the .45 Auto Rim is an alternative for the .455 ammunition. Of course, if you're into handloading, there's always that route, but brass for the .455 is amazingly expensive.

I just ordered the .455 ammo from Old West Scrounger. They didn't say anything about a backorder. Geez, why cant this just work out for once. I hope I get this stuff because I'm dying to shoot my new HE2.
On another note, I was at a local gun show this past weekend and I was asking around for .455 ammo. No one had any, but one dealer did tell me that .450 ammo could be shot in an HE2 chambered for .455. Now I'm really confused. Is this possible? Can anyone comment on this? All I want is bullets to fire in my .455 chambered HE2. Thanks for your help.

They said they have been waiting for two years for this ammo and have given up on Fiocci and are handloading it themselves. They said they should have it ready in a month........at $27.95 for a box of 20!!!!!!
......and that's not including shipping.
45ACP costs about $6.95 for a box of 50. So that's about 14 cents a round.
Everytime you pull the trigger on a .455 it's a $1.50

My .454 Casull ammo puts a dent in the wallet. Almost makes me
want to take up loading my own brass.

I read a magazine article several years ago that S&W H.E. 2's in .455 could be rechambered for .45 Colt. This would allow you to use your revolver with less expensive ammo.

Peacock Eye is right. I've read in the smith-wesson forum that a .455 can be rechambered to a 45 LC (long colt).
