'O' Rings on MKVI?

Hi

As I said here before, I just bought a mint MkVI. It's an 1941 English one (and it's great, as it doesn't smell  ).
But what bothers me (well, 'bothering' may not be adequate...) is that it has 'O' rings instead of the usual 'D' ones. They seem to be the original ones, though (while the strap probably isn't: one side has got a 'D' ring and both have a kind of snap hook).
Has anyone met those rings on a MkVI before?
Thanks

galahad

My W&G brand MKVI has O rings. Most MKVI's I've seen have D rings, but I've heard of a few that have O rings.

I have own/have owned both with both. I guess it's a case of whatever the contractor had on hand. Usually, the O-ring type has the strap sewn on while the D-ring type has a detatchable strap with brass hooks on the ends. I prefer the O-rings. When you put on your fabulous Lee Keppler leather strap, the bag hangs better with them.

I really wish we had O rings with detachable straps so I didn't have to cut the straps. Of about 3 MKVII's that I have owned, I have only cut one of the straps (for my bag strap) because I don't want to ruin the others. Detachable straps would be soooo much more convenient. Oh well.
