I just got my Aldens resoled there. After 1 year, 4 states, 3 countries, and almost daily wear, they were looking pretty dang worn. Although it may not be screen accurate, I chose a new Vibram half sole (with a little tread) and heel. Much tougher than the cork, oil resistant, with much better traction. Thanks to our friend Jun for giving me the idea (he did the same thing to his). Much more practical for real life, I think.
These people are very friendly and do excellent work. They are an Alden dealer, so they know the product which is a plus.
AND the resoling cost me less than what they were asking for at the ordinary shoe repair shops.
You can buy Aldens of all types there too, including the Indy Boots. Prices are competitive.
They carry Meltonian shoe cream polish.
Replacement strings for the 405s cost a buck and they've got a ton of them. I, of course, bought some backups.
They have a couple of locations, one in Downtown and this one, in Mid-Wilshire, on the Miracle Mile, just east of the Museum District, two blocks west of La Brea.
And no, I'm not getting any kickbacks.
