This Night Represents Every Reason We Got Into Gearheadednes

With the debate over whether or not to wear your gear to the premiere, I thought I would weigh in with my own opinion:
I know people have expressed apprehension and reluctance...but the way I see it, if this is not
the moment to wear your gear, then when? We have all spent so much time, effort and treasure that I would be remiss if I didn't take this opportunity to not only display it, but to perhaps ignite the spark for collecting in others (or add to their appreciation of all the hard work our vendors have put into making their products).
My take is that Indygear is a companion to your adventures - I don't baby my gear, and it shows. My Aldens are scuffed, my jacked frayed, and lets not talk about the HJ

- but it has been with me for so many adventures that I think it a pity to not wear it on this one, one it is uniquely suited for.
Every day is an adventure, and premiere night will be for many of us the culmination of a great journey.
This movie represents everything we got into Gear for in the first place - don't be ashamed of it.

This is the day I've waited for, planned for, dreamed of, for the last 27 years. I couldn't do it in style when LC came out, although I did go in gear...This time I'm doin' it right. It's pretty much immaterial if the film is good or bad...It's an event, an excuse to show our stuff.
And if someone don't like it, well...There's a problem with them, isn't there? After all...It's a midnight premiere on a weekday. You have to be out of your mind to attend in the first place...IMHO, people who don't dress in some way are contrarians and have totally missed the spirit of the day...

I FULLY agree. I will be attending the midnight showing in full gear (whip and all) as well as coming to work the next day (Thursday) in full gear to celebrate launch day or as I've come to call it around the office 'INDY Day'.
I can't imagine how anyone can't be confident when wearing a fedora.

I am going in everything I have. I may not put on the whip and holster just because i don't want to rouse or alarm anyone. Well, maybe just the whip.
I dressed as Han Solo for all the Star Wars premiers I could attened, which were Episodes I-III. My girlfriends brother dressed as Yoda, using my Dan Post Yoda mask. The crowd loved it. Why not get into the feel of these films. These films are just as important in our lives as real events and people. Look at how Indy has changed out lives! It would be a pity to not enjoy this event to the fullest, and that includes going in full gear.

Like many of you I will be at the midnight showing Wednesday night. As I was thinking that the long awaited Indy 4 is only HOURS away now, no longer days, months or years...It really is like the night before Christmas - actually worse because the wait was way longer. At least Christmas comes every year!

I am very reluctant to wear gear to the movie. It is not embarrassment or anything of the sort. Any other time, I can pay homage to Indy, play at being Indy etc. by wearing the gear or any part of it.
But, with IV coming out, Indy is Indy once more. I never thought I would see it happen and I think I may just want to be me and let Indy be Indy.

There's always Halloween, too.
