Need advice Compare/Contrast Wested,Todd's, Magnoli, Gibson
Hi, I'm new here and I'm looking for some advice in choosing my first Indy jacket.
It's mind-numbing trying to determine what jacket best represents not only some degree of screen accuracy, but is also well built.
I'll take a well built, well fitting jacket over screen accuracy any day. I want a jacket that will hold up over time and not hang on my body like a limp noodle.
So with that said, what's your opinions?
I've heard some good things and some bad things about the above makers but I have no first hand experience with their Indy jackets.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You've definitely come to the right place. The old timers around here have really done their homework. Any search will turn up a number of threads with plenty of pictures and lots of helpful and friendly advice. FYI, a few people have ordered the new TN jacket from the new movie and pictures should be coming up very soon. Might as well wait to see what the consensus is on the new jacket.

I can't wait to see and hear more about Nowak's jacket. I know his stuff is really well made.
I won't be making a decision anytime soon as I just bought 2 custom jackets from Magnoli and a custom from Vanson. Tax rebate is all gone now.
Up next will most definitely be an Indy.
I like what I'm hearing about the Gibson & Barnes.
Thanks.

Hi Jared!
welcome to COW....its good to see you on this side
by your description, it sounds like G&B is the way to go. mr. rundquist has a great deal of info in regards to this company and you can find it if you search for rundquist's posts in the leather jacket section.
us wings is also a well built jacket from my readings on the board. out of the 2, i prefer fit of the G&B better.
enjoy your stay. i hope you stop at just the jacket. if you venture off into the fedora section or general gear, you're gonna need a whole lot more tax rebate cheques.
cheers,
G

I know what you mean! One piece at a time for me. The hat is something I always wanted but would probably never even wear. I look really odd in hats. My face is too oval to have a stove pipe sitting on top of it. I looked into getting a custom hat made once and the hat maker said I would need a short crown to offset the shape of my face so that pretty much rules out an Indy Fedora.
Gibson & Barnes site has been added to my favorites.
Indiana G, good to see you here too.

I have a Todd's standard, and while it is a nice jacket that is very SA (whatever that really means) to Raiders it is very light and thin. I just got a Gibson & Barnes and I truly believe I could be dragged behind a truck in that thing without doing much damage to it...yet, the leather (goat) is soft and extremely comfortable. I got mine used so it was nicely broken in, but I wouldn't trade that jacket for anything now. Hope my tiny contribution helps!
