Whip Holder Question

Friends,
I should be receving one of my whips tomorow that I'll bring to the premiere, and I'm wondering about a feature on my Todd's whip holder. What is the purpose/use of the velcro on this holder? I know the front with the button is where the whip goes, but is the velcro to strap the excess, or what? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

The Velcro is to adjust the size of the holster loop that holds the whip coils.

So, does that mean it is too loose now, and I should tighten it?

If it doesn't hold your whip snug, yeah, you'll want to tighten it.

Doesn't the whip go into the section that snaps? I sure thought it did. The velcro section is not actualy attached to the snap section, so it would seem strange to have the whip attached in two areas. Indy would never get his whip out in time if he had to remove it in two places.

The velcro just allows you to adjust the length of the holder. Once it is the right length to keep your whip snug while snapped, just snap and unsnap to hold the whip. The velcro looks like it is just meant for adjustment.

I am apparently a huge moron (I'm ok with that  ), but what do you mean when you say to adjust the length of the holder? It is already fastened to the holster, so I am confused, especially, if the whip is where the snap takes place. Sorry for my dopiness!

Not all whips are exactly the same; the velcro allows you to adjust the whip holder so that your whip is held securely, regardless of differences in the length and width of the whip.

So what you do is coil up your whip, and then pull the velcro until the holder is tight around your whip.

Make sense?

What he means is, you can use the velcro make more room for your whip in the holder if it doesn't fit inside, and you can also use it to make less room for your whip, if the holder is too big to keep it snug. When he says you make the length of the holder longer, he doesn't mean that it'll hang lower on your side. He means that part of the holder will be longer so that it can go around a bigger whip to get back to the snap.

Stealthboy has it right Mr.Z. I actually wrote Todd to say what a great design he has for these. The velcro is basically a quick change/adjust to account for different sized whips. By adjusting the velcro I can switch between the smaller 8 foot whip or 10 foot whip without even taking the holder off the belt. Just release the velcro and slide it up behind the area marked belt-loop for smaller diameter whips. Todds design allows for a nice tight fit for any size whip to prevent sliding. The velcro is hidden behind the strap so that you do not notice it. Once adjusted for your whip leave it and just use the snap for release.

Gents, thank you very much! After reading your posts and messing around with the holder, it all makes perfect sense. I don't know why I didn't figure that out sooner. I can only attribute it to being a teacher, and our brains are typically fried this time of year.

Thanks again everybody ... Indy IV is almost here!!
