Why did they have to put pleats? Difference between brands?

Post by Nicolas Jones »

Hi folks,

I guess that some of you have more that one jacket, and better, some of you may have several brands of indy jacket in your closet...

Amongst those, is there a difference concerning the pleats? Does they open the same way? Is there a brand "without pleats opening problem"?

-I realy like my wested, but the pleats stay open all the time :x

(sorry for my English tonight, I am tired...)

Thanks

Nico

Yeah the G& B pleates are fantastic - they don't open (elastic hidden insidde jacket) and they are narrower. Wested pleats hang open just like the ones in the movie.

US Wings has elastic

Post by Rambler »

My US Wings has a band of elastic too. It is inside betweeen the lining nad the leather and serves to pull the pleats (gussets) in a little. I have actually been considering removing it because I can feel it when sitting in a car seat and as soon as I think of it, it starts bothering me.

I think it might have to do with how a person is built and how the jacket is tailored aswell. The Wested I sent back had elastics and the pleats were gaping and bulging, the one I got back didn't gape at all with no elastics. I'm not sure what they did, but it worked.

I don't know anything about that jacket. If you want to get a lamb jacket, consider Todd's. It is lamb and $150, just $2 more than that jacket. The Todd's lamb has recieved much praise. I don't own one, but plan to.

I've heard something about that picture on that site being stolen, or the jacket is a US Wings, or something along those lines. Basically just don't trust that site I think was the general consensus. As for the Todd jacket, I don't own one, but I have tried one on and I was quite unimpressed. Nothing against Todd as I'm a big fan of everything else I've seen from him, but that jacket feels like a cheap t-shirt and is extremely short. I'm pretty tall though, so that's just for me.

That's because that IS a mannequin. It was either agent5 or Chris King's mannequin, to be exact. They just superimposed somebody's face over the picture, which they used without consent...

And that jacket is a Wested too...
