questions about AB price increase

Hi everyone:

I emailed Steve about this, but I'm sure he's swamped (and it possibly got caught by a spam filter). So I figured I'd ask all you knowledgeable folks, as the time deadline is coming up! I used the search feature, but about half a million hits came back, and I still am confused 'cause I couldn't find all the info in one place:

What exactly is the current price for an AB for a COW member? And when does it go up, if it hasn't already? I think something or multiple somethings happen on the 22nd, but what? And will there always be a COW discount, or is that going away after the new film's opening?

I'd like to send Steve some money and get in the que, as the wait-time is now so long. But, I've been growing my hair for almost two years now for various roles (I'm an actor), so obviously I don't have a classic men's haircut that goes well with a fedora. And of course, it changes my size! However, I know that I'm not going to have long hair forever, and I figure I'll conceivably have my Adventurebilit for the rest of my life! So, is it possible to pay Steve and get in line, and then talk about size/bash/etc etc when it's closer to the time he's ready to make my hat? Or does he need to have this information when I place my order? (I don't quite understand how he goes about making the hats in what particular order, but there seems to be at least something to do with size).

Thanks for your help,

Ted

I too have emailed steve a few time to get in the queue...no replies..

I also asked what our price would be and when the cutoff was for it (presumable the 22nd?).

He must be busy!!!!

Well, there's at least 3 of us who've e-mailed recently with similar questions.

Extrapolating to the population at large... If we are 3 of ~1000, and there are ~300 million people in the US alone... Over 6 billion in the world... carry the two...

...He has to have at least 4 e-mails!

Seriously, though, I am going to give it a few more days. If I don't hear anything, I'm going to try calling.

If that doesn't work, I'll just send him some money and see how that goes.

For the current price for COW members, check the "Price increase" thread in the vendor section. He hasn't clearly stated, to the best of my knowledge, how much the prices will go up after the premier.

If COW members get a discount, I've not heard about it nor did I expect one. Since I've educated myself on what Steve and Marc go through to produce a single hat.....I was happy to pay full retail price.

But, I think it's a valid question about paying now and deciding on style and details later. I'm considering doing the same thing with a Tony Nowak jacket. I'm in the middle of a weight-loss regimen that will probably change my jacket size.....but I want to go ahead and pay for one of the Limited Edition jackets before the run is gone. I can decide about size a little later.

To my knowledge, Steve will be offering the COW discounted price of $225 until the 22nd. After that point, there will no longer be a discount for COW members. The price will then be $350. Now, I believe that Steve said he will be extending this discount to those whom have already purchased hats from him in the past. I don't know that the discount will be the same $225 one, but if you have purchased hats or a hat from him prior to the release of the film, then you will recieve that discount on future pruchases. Again, this is my understanding, only Steve can shed some light on this.

If you want to get in line the best thing to do is simply Paypal Steve the (discounted) amount. Your Paypal email will serve as your receipt and you will automatically be placed in line.

Besides, Steve doesn't have time to respond to your emails--he's working on my hat!

You know what Steve needs....he needs an online form that goes to a new e-mail, that way he doesn't have to worry about spam......I really should make him one.

You can pay anyone any amount through their email address. So go to paypal and send Steve the amount you are paying by clicking the send money tab and entering his email address...

sdelk@cableone.net

You will get a receipt from paypal and Steve will receive the money.

Observing the conversations that take place here about communications, I think Steve would be greatly served by:

-- setting up an email address ONLY for paid customers (to keep inquiries and customer email separate)

-- hiring an assistant who can learn the most common answers to the questions being asked by prospective buyers

-- providing the assistant with a list of orders each Sunday that are being worked on that week. The assistant can then email each customer and say, "Hey, your order is schedule to go out within the next two weeks". That gives the paid customer the information that they most often complain about not knowing

It's the 21st century. There's too much technology and affordable communications options available for this to be as difficult and cumbersome as it apparently is.

I've had a wonderful experience in dealing with Marc on my AB Deluxe. I can't think of a single time that I've emailed Marc that I didn't get SOME kind of reply within a reasonable amount of time. One of the reasons I went with the Deluxe was because I emailed Steve twice and never got a reply. :( But, it turned out to be a great transaction between Marc and I and I'm thrilled that I'll be wearing a nicer hat that Ford himself. LOL

Ya, Steve seems to need some online help. I was thinking of asking him if he needed me to do anything to make things run a little smoother (being a web designer and all)....I think you bring up some good points.

I gather both Marc and Steve made hats for the film, each in their own style, and even switched up the hat bands for some of them so that they could never know for sure whose hat was in which scene. Genuine class.

That said, congratulations on your hat!

I suspect that's the case, too. But, when I made the statement about "wearing a nicer hat than Ford", I was referring to all the extra quality that goes into the Deluxe instead of the regular AB.

In other words, it's my understanding that the film got what is now called the regular AB and the AB Deluxe is something else.

Am I mistaken?

Wait a second...I thought Steve had already ceased the COW discount price of $225. Has he not?? I was under the impression that the price increase applied to the current $350. It will become $450 after the 22nd of May. If I'm COMPLETELY wrong in this matter, please let me know, so I can order an AB TOMORROW for $225, otherwise...I may have to put off such an order til Fall as I had originally planned.

I think so.

In the thread stickied up at the top of the Fedora section, Marc says:

Steve sent some of his rawbodies, to make sure I could match my hats color wise (they become lighter depending on how much you pounce them). So I finished off some of Steve rawbodies using my sweatbands while matching my rawbodies color wise his, to make sure everything would be identical (and yes, that is the first time one of Steve's hats has the AB-Dlx. sweatband and was made completely by me ). In return I sent several AB-Dlx. rawbodies to Steve, which HE finished off using HIS sweatbands. I had finished the bows as well, so he just needed to put them on. So, even if this will probably never happen, but if you gave me a screen used hero hat and asked me who made this, I'd say either Steve or me
I could of course be wrong, but my impression is that Marc's hats are the same now as they were then.

That said, you are receiving the finest Indy hat money can buy.

The price per Steve is $235 shipped, for COW members, until 5/22.

I BELIEVE that if you have ordered an AB from him before, the older price still remains, even after the 22nd. Don't quote me, I just remember seeing that somewhere...maybe...I don't know... 8-[

That's what I remember reading as well... But I wonder if we both have selective memory, since I just can't seem to find that thread ;)

You are both right. Here is the quote:
The site price is already up and increased. The COW discount is still good for members, until May 22. At that time, the discounted price will only be for my customers who have done business with me. The COW discount would have been good for right at 4 years, and if you did not take advantage of it in those years, there is no one to blame but yourself.
Sorry Imagine, but you have been missinformed. On the bright side, now you can get an AB and don't have to wait until the Fall  Anyone interested in doing some further reading on the subject can visit the thread at viewtopic.php?t=18654 .

Oh, he'll wait until the Fall all right. But only if he orders soon!

I meant he won't have to wait until the Fall to put his order in, as he said in his previous post. Sorry about the confusion.
