Questions regarding the Wested OTR ROTLA jacket?

Post by scot2525 »

I just recently joined the forum but have visited off an on for a couple of years now. I have started building my Indy costume, unfortunately not in time for the premiere of Indy IV. I am getting several of my pieces from Todd Costumes, whip, belts, holster, whip holder, and shirt.

I am #### bent on getting the Wested ROTLA jacket but would really like some advice concerning the OTR ROTLA jacket from Wested. I have two areas in the jacket I cannot decide on. I would like to know what looks better to members here, Authentic brown Lambskin or Dark brown Lambskin? In some of the photos I have seen here the ABL looks very light when seen in sunlight and does not look very good to me. Your opinions are appreciated.

I also need some help on sizing. I know most of you have your jackets custom made but does the OTR jacket tend to run small or large ? I am 5' 10", 175 lbs. I am stuck between ordering a 40 or 42. Any help is appreciated.

I am choosing the OTR option for my first jacket as a safety net for return/exchange purposes.

I have the Special Offer ROLA Authentic Brown Lambskin and I love it. I am a smidge under 6'0 and weigh 175. I bought the 40 regular and it fits fine. I think if I went with a 42 it might have been too long for me. If you order one off the rack like I did you should get it soon enough. When I ordered mine, I got it within 5 days.

I may be wrong here but isn't Mr Ford about 5'10" (although indy is meant to be more like 6')... and HE wore a 40R for raiders...

I have an OTR Wested in authentic lambskin. I'm 6'0", chest 41" and the 42" fitted me like a glove - I would say the measurements are spot on for the Raiders look (quite snug). Maybe decide by your chest measurement? The colour is almost chocolate...

Hmm, from memory I thought the jacket was more figure-hugging in Raiders than LC where it seems more like a winter jacket. Could just be the drape I guess and the fact the Raiders is lambskin and the LC cow(?)

yeah the LC jacket was the baggiest of them all.
the TOD jacket was the fitting jacket for the buffed up Ford in ToD.
raiders had a baggy look to it but that was most in the sleeves and a little in the chest area.

but still the jacket looks great on you my friend.very raiders :D

Interesting. I've heard that he is 6'1. Looks like he put on a few pounds so that may explain the 44 in CS. Plus, I think the sleeves in CS do look pretty long don't you?

I'm 6ft with 41" chest, weigh around 180 aka some pounds too much :-) I owned and I still own several Wested OTR Raiders in various leathers, and they are all different in back and sleeve length. One jacket I had to sell, a size 40 lambskin, which was way too tight for me, was still able to close the zipper but the sleeves were just too short. Went for a 42 in all the other jackets...

The Raiders jacket wasn't baggy, it was just always worn really far back on the shoulders.

If your chest is 40, then why not get 38 80s fit.
That will be a proper fit.

Kidding.

The jacket was baggy. I wasn't wearing it during filming of Raiders but there are photos.

Just show me one photo where it isn't baggy.

Re color, better get authentic lamb because the dark brown is not like that dark seal brown of military jackets. It has a reddish hue, quite annoying if you ask me.

Can get the auth lamb, treat it with some leather product, it will become darker.

Hmm, zip it up and I think it would be fairly snug...

I was watching that scene again the other day and noticed it did look like it would be snug if zipped up. I tried to do some screen grabs but I can't on my Mac. (Anyone know of any programs I could try?)

It's one of my favourite shots in the whole of Raiders (Indy thinks he's been shot but the gunshot is Marion shooting the guy first). It's what I think of when I think of the jacket - hence it's why I thought it was snug. It probably isn't at all!

Cool, Scot2525. Post some pics when you get it.

Hey Chewie,

Are you using DVD player to watch your DVD's? You can't take snapshots of the screen with that program beacuse it's blocked.

Go and search out VLC (free to download), you can watch all sorts of stuff with that, including DVD's and you can then take snapshots with the ususal Comand/Shift plus 3 or 4 thing.

I'm on a Mac; I use SnapzPro to do screen captures.
