Just a note: There is an article in today's L.A. Times on Bernie but Steve is not mentioned. Article is called "Indiana Jones and the Lost Hat" but with no mention of Adventurebilt!!! Crazy!

"...they were all out of business?" Really? Then where did that Wested jacket I just got come from? Someone needs to tell Peter he's retired I guess!

The article states, "Pollack had to create: * 30 identical fedoras * 30 leather jackets * 60 pairs of khaki pants * 72 shirts"

How about, Pollack had to find people who could actually create authentic....or once Pollack found the right people, he ordered 30 identical fedoras, etc. That's reporting for you, make it sound just a little more sensational than reality.

Folks can always write letters to the editor and get things sorted out for real, you know. ...Just like when there's an error in a sales flyer in the paper.

Perhaps, if an address can be found to do so, a whole lot of us could correct them and set the record straight.

not really as rediculous as you guys make it seem...Monty Burhman passed away so Mba is gone (Noel supplies to us, but he's not in the movie biz anymore) and Richard Swales is no longer with Herbert Johnson, so what is said is accurate.

As for Wested, well it's been mentioned on the forum that the production crew needed someone local. When filming in England, Peter was local. Filming in and around the US, they went with Tony. I am a Wested die-hard, but logistically, it sounds right.

Also, Bernie didn't take to needle and thread and make all of the costume by hand himself, but he is in charge of providing the costume, and that's what he did..provided the costume to the production company.

When I buy my Dodge, I don't think about each individual who makes each and every part that goes into it...I just buy a Dodge!

For YEARS before the 'net, Peter and Monty never got credit for making the costume, it was Deborah Nadoolman who was the 'designer' and SHE got sole credit, right? and she is beloved on this forum, so why now go after Bernie with torches and pitchforks?

I think the folks that provided most of the gear are gone. Swales certainly is. I don't think Wested made any of the old jackets, although Peter was involved. But not under the Wested name.

HJ is still in business, but really, it isn't WHO the other costume designers dealt with. It isn't the old HJ company anymore.

Bernie had a big job to do, years after the last film was made. I think he pulled it off as well as anyone else could have, and probably better than others. The first one apparently failed, and they brought in Bernie. At a late date, and he apparently had to start from scratch, with a short time table. I don't' think he got more than 4 hours sleep at any time during the pre production, and actual filming. Let's give Bernie some credit here. His choices will be talked about for years by the gear crowd, no doubt. But, for most folks, the outfit will be indistinquishable from the other costumes. If so, he pulled it off in spades. And, that was the goal, I would think. Regards, Fedora

Hats for ToD and LC were made by Borsalino. May be we don't really like them very much, but Borsalino is well and alive, since 1857...

Borsilano makes (or maybe just distributes) those swell Huckel hats the Hasidic fellas wear. I quite like the look of those.
