How long?

How long would you say it takes to make a 12 plait 8 ft bullwhip just out of curiousity?

Brady,
It just depends on the whipmaker. For someone like Joe Strain, he can do one in less than a day. David Morgan on average cranks out 2 to 3 a week. I know Mike Murphy, gets these spurts of energy and he can cut the laces from the hide, braid all the bellies, overlay, knots and get one made on less than 24 hours.
Specifically, when you are dealing with a whip maker that is established, the wait time is not what it takes to make a whip, but you add that contruction time to their current back log. I know with some whip makers, you wait 4 to 6 months just due to the backlog. I think Bernie's typical wait time is about a month.
Hopefully that answers your question.

Right now I'm on Bernie's waiting list of 8 weeks, but hopefully it won't be as long as he has said it will. I'm very eager to begin learning how to crack a whip.
