MY NEW ALDENS.......NEED SOME HELP

Well I got my Aldens this Saturday from Schmidty. I love the boots, but I wanted them to be darker (brownish), so I used brown shoe polish on them. Now they almost look oxblood to me. What can I do? Is there a way to make them look more brown than red? Also, is there any way to lighten the lace around the toe, because now they look too dark to me. If there is nothing I can do, I can live with them. They are still good looking shoes and happen to be extremely comfortable to me. I am proud to say that I do not suffer from Alden foot. I am posting pics. Before and after.

Doherty,

The stitching on the toe will lighten up rather quickly on it's own. When I first started wearing them, I would be sooo careful around the stitching when I polished them, as not to darken it. I took them to the shoe repair to have them re heeled and they polished them. And went right over the stitching. I was irritated. But a week or so later, they were fine. It wears off quick. As far as the color, what kind of polish? And did you buff them (I assume you did) ? I have never used the same color polish twice in a row on any of mine. I usually go between (Kiwi paste) tan, mid-tan, and brown. Mine are a dark to british tan color. The color will also wear down soon enough. I hope this helps some.

No Problem. After taking another gander at the photos, the color shouldn't be bad for too long. Drag behind a truck. That'll have em perfect in no time!!
