Raiders Bullwhip for a 12" Figure

Finally just finished up a Raiders bullwhip made for a 12" figure. Total braided length of the whip is 16", which will make it about an 8 footer in the hands of the mini man. Cute little thing - I can't help but grin every time I walk by and glance at it.
) Thought you all might get a kick out of it too...

Well I think this is the smallest I've seen yet. That is a nice job Lauren !! Yours eyes are much younger than mine, not to mention much more talent
I really doubt I could see good well enough to tie those knots.

Hi Lauren.
I'm not sure that "cute" is the appropriate description, but that's the word that comes to mind when I look at it.
Nice work.
Cheers.

I've seen a bunch of these lately on eBay, (they pop up when you do a global search for "Bullwhip.")
This is the best looking one I've seen so far! The Fall Hitch! WOW! That's impressive!

You know, as someone who has seen this miniature in person, I can tell you that the pics don't really do justice. It's not that the pictures are bad, it's just that to be able to really appreciate Lauren's work you have to hold the whip and see it in its true dimention. The popper is particularly amazing. I don't know how Lauren did it (both the popper and attaching it to the fall) but next time I'll make sure to watch her closely. I wouldn't be surprised to find her using a magnifying glass!
)
Here's a pic of the whip in my hand. Hope that helps to put its size into perspective.

Yeah, I was looking at the popper attachment myself and muttering expletives of astonishment to myself. ;-)
Again, COOL job!

Yea,
any more than that and you would be using tweezers to plait with

More importantly...does it crack?

Hey all,
First off, YES! It does crack! By no means is it a thunderously loud crack like a 10 footer, but it did make a little "pop" when I tried a cattleman's with it. Talk about fast action!
And yes, it is 4 plait.
Attaching the popper is about as easy as threading a needle, but with a steady hand and good lighting, it's doable. The part I was happiest about was the shape of the end knot - I think it has a very Morgan shape, which isn't easy to pull off on a full-size whip, let alone on something smaller than a pencil eraser.
Absolutely no offense at all to the new 12" Indy figure on Sideshow Collectibles because I really think it looks awesome (and I really want one!), but as an obsessive Indy whip person.... well, I just don't think visually anything can beat real braided kangaroo, turkshead knots, a functional fall hitch, and popper. Here's a picture of the coiled whip I found on sideshowtoy.com.

Lauren, what did you use as a handle foundation, a toothpick?

Cracker,
No, no toothpick - I'd be afraid that would break. The handle foundation is a small piece of steel, just like a big bullwhip. No room (or need) for lead in the knot foundation though! ;-)

As a person that loves miniature props I have to say hats off for this. Absolutely brilliant! I am in awe.

I had a little fun with photoshop this morning trying to see how the mini whip would actually look in the hands of the new 12" Indy figure... here are the results.

That looks great Lauren!
As a collector of 12'' figures, I may have to ask you to make one for my 12'' Sideshow Indy once he comes out!!!!
