Which Wested leather would be the closest match to KOTCS?
I'm thinking Novapelle. Or what about Predistressed Cow?

Yes.
Very durable.
Not like goathide which is at the top end of the durability scale, but durable enough for anything you want to throw at it. Strong stuff!

Go for the Novapelle, you love it.
Brand new:
After a few months and with a coat of pecards:
Holt: Goat will still be stronger, but this aint bad.

allright.so the goat is stronger.
but the cow will not tear if I so decided to roll around on that rocky coastline? remember?Michaelson?
so I dont have to worrie about branches and stuff like that if I am in the forrest?
KT I so love that jacket.the back seam looks like it's lower on the back.and the pleats looks more narrow.

Holt, my friend, after seeing those coastline photos, NOTHING you order is going to do the trick, I assure you....nothing short of a coat of armor!
Let's put it this way. The stunt man who was drug under the truck in Raiders was wearing a cowhide jacket. It was terribly distressed, yes, but in one piece after the stunt. Is that tough enough?

KT, what kind of Pecards did you use on your CS jacket? I tried to make mine look a bit more shiny (Empire magazine cover) with Letaps foam cleaner, but it didn't put a dent in it.

Letaps won't. It's just a cleaner/conditioner.

KT that is an outstanding looking jacket! Yes very KOTCS! I think I will go with Novapelle! Thank you guys for responding!
And it's great to know that it's durable. Just as durable as goat? Well that's great news.

If it hasn't already been covered, what is the difference between Novapelle and Pre-distressed cow? I got my pre-distressed back in 2000 and from what I've seen so far it looks very similar.

I put the standard Pecard on, I think it really brings out the tones in the jacket. Looks a lot like the Empire cover to me now.
. Beware it will remove the velvety nap of the NP.

For me, it was looking too dusty and in need of a bit of a condition, the Pecard did that and semi sealed the surface too, so that water beads, otherwise it just soaks in. Don't worry it does lighten up in time, but in real life it isn't black. It can look a lot lighter depending on how light hits it.

The predistressed is a lighter, yellower, sandy brown. This NP is darker and less warm a colour, it's much closer to... say... authentic brown.
It's also a very lightly distressed surface compared to the pre-d.
