Suede?

Post by Fiddler_Jones »

I was looking at suede jackets not too long back when it dawned on me... has anyone ever asked Peter to make a raiders jacket out of suede?

I suppose I could just e-mail him and ask, but I was wondering if anyone here knew...

I've only had one thickly lined (cow) suede jacket, dark brown, that I used regularly as a 'ranch' type work jacket. I can say it wore fairly well and was amazingly tough and did not tear or snag like leather, but it was near impossible to keep clean. Dirt would simply grind into it and after awhile, no amount of cleaning/conditioning seemed to help, even professional cleaning couldn't restore it to an even half way presentable condition.

Ah, suede! Back in middle school, I had a brown suede jacket that doubled as my Indy jacket. (Shh, don't tell anybody, but it was actually a girl's jacket, and therefore had the zipper on the "wrong" side. Little did I know this made it more accurate to Indy's...) Eventually, the lining got destroyed (carrying combs in one's back pocket will do that), so I cut it up and used the suede to make stuff, like dice bags and pouches which I still have now.

Cordially,
Lord Clarence
