Last week I received my TOD style adventure jacket from Magnoli Clothiers.

The quality and craftsmanship is amazing!!!!! My goal was to achieve a jacket that was a close to screen accurate as possible. The specs were as follows:

I provided Magnoli with my old cooper US Wings jacket to copy details like stitching, the size of the yoke, collar, storm flap, etc.

I also provided a #10 YKK zipper and the measurements of the NH jacket pockets to give it that distinctive TOD look.

The jacket is Magnoli's brown lambskin, it's extremely soft and the weight is similar to that of Wested.

When I received the jacket I replaced the side buckles for more SA ones. Other then that the jacket fit like a glove. I couldn't be happier, and would highly recommend Magnoli. I finally feel like I have the jacket, that I stared at on my lunchbox everyday as a kid.

Now I just need to build up the courage to distress it!

I really like that collar. I think the TOD collar is one of the main features that makes it visually distincitive, and I think Magnoli really got it right.

Wow-- that's one of the best-looking Indy jackets I've ever seen.

That's a great looking jacket. Was it expensive?

Is the side seam meant to look that way? On the Wested's they are strong overlapping seams like those on the shoulders - here they are different.

It does look like a smashing jacket, however.

WOW. Magnoli really has all the styles nailed. Could be one of the film-used jackets pre-distressing! Are you going to rough it up so much the collar starts to split in half  ?

Don't. Just wear the "Prepare to see Kali—in ####!" out of it.

just checked out the website. The seam is meant to look like that. Interesting.

Wested didn't make the original. Cooper(s?) did, in the USA.

I personally think it's a smashing design too—I genuinely like those smaller pockets!

If you want it to be perfectly screen accurate, you have to wear it hanging right off the shoulders, and you might want to make the right collar a bit more rounded at the tip—for some reason the right side was rounded but the left side collar was pointy!

This jacket looks EXCELLENT.
The proportions look 100% correct. The pockets and pocket placement are the best I have seen on a TOD jacket. (Maybe the flap needs to be tad longer).

But the best thing is that the jacket seems to be close fitting in the torso and a little longer than the raiders, i.e. like the real TOD thing.

I vote this to be the BEST TOD jacket ever made so far.

BRAVO Magnoli.

I knew it was a Cooper - my question was about the stitching.

Thanks for all the great feedback. Magnoli truely makes a great jacket, but he's also willing to indulge all of our SA obsessions

I agree. My guess is those variances occurred during the distressing process. I think the way the TOD jacket was distressed is so much a part of its character and appeal.

Simply perfect. Is Magnoli also able to produce this level of accuracy in the Raiders style?

Last I heard, he did offer goatskin. Personally, though, I recommend his dull-finish cowhide. I love it!

I'm seeing the same thing... plus, something seems a little off about the collar/collar stand configuration... I wonder how old the wings/cooper jacket was that was copied? Anyway... I'm a noob when it comes to gear, so I may just be seeing things.

Overall, it looks like a great jacket. I like the smaller pockets, lower yolk seem, the way the side straps are stitched/attached to the side... and the zipper and buckle you used also.

You know, I really wish I'd bought one of those older Coopers. An SA jacket indeed. I've always liked the smaller pockets and larger yolk. I remember seeing TOD at the time and thinking how much I liked the jacket. Magnoli is a very clever designer. I figure the Cooper had that odd side seam. Watching TOD the other night I noticed how the flap is different on each pocket. They are not as scalloped and look like elongated triangles.

Nice to see TOD jackets getting attention

Beautiful!

That jacket is a keeper. :)

Love the zipper. It's a nice contrast with the leather, as opposed to the more common brass, and lends a vintage feel.

How's the color? It's hard to tell the true color from the photos.

The pics aren't working for me.

Tony, is the side vent configuration exactly like the TOD jackets or is it done the same way Wested does them, a'la Raiders/LC?

Very nice. I wanted my wested to be much like this as I always thought the TOD jacket looked the best. Alas, the magnoli jacket, while probably awesome, is a tad too pricey for me.

The side vents are shorter than the other styles. You can see the pulling from the lack of a longer vent in this shot:
