hello everyone,
a while back i set out on a great quest to find "MY" perfect version of the "Raiders Jacket". so on march 5, 2008 i ordered my first WESTED! Well Im very excited and pleased to announce Gemma just sent confirmation it has been dispatched as of today!
So IMO 50 days is very good turn around for a custom made (from scratch) jacket. Also consider I gave them lots of special requests and not to mention its made in a custom made larger size (I will try and post pics as soon as i get it).
so now that its on its way what do you guys suggest is the first thing i should buy in terms of care for the jacket? its authentic brown lamb and i think id like to weather protect it and help prolong the life of the leather. but when and if would be a good time to do the first sort of maintenance??? any help is greatly appreciated!!
thanks for reading,
Joey

This discussion should get you started. Lots of these in the gear care section.

Got a question for you guys... Does Wested (Gemma or Peter) send you a confirmation email for shipping? With Tracking numbers and all? or just send you the shipment without letting you know? I've almost been waiting for a week and a half now and still haven't heard from them yet... I ordered a goat skin COMBO deal... maybe that's why it's taking such a long time?

Mailed Gemma last wednesday and she told me my jacket will be sent next week.
My order was processed for production on March, 27th.

I guess I'm getting close then...ordered April 1st, got the email for process and order # on April 2nd.
Did you get a bunch of custom specs?

Very much like Erri's specs list.
I asked for a slightly more SA inside pocket though.
I suppose you're just as curious as me about the final result, eh?

So I guess that 21 days thing has gone the way of the Betamax?
I ordered my cowhide on 4/8 with the hopes of taking to Chicago/San Fran on May 12. I guess I'm dreaming the impossible dream. It's not likely to be warm enough for it in Manhattan for a while.
Road trip to Northern Canada, anyone?

By the way, I put in my order for a custom job on April 8.
It shipped on April 23rd.
Arrived at my office on April 28.
There was customs due so the mailman took it back to the post office. No one bothered to tell me until today, so I only just caught it before the Post office sent it back to the UK.
I've not yet decided how to punish my receptionist.
I'll post some pics later when I sober up.
